September 23: Pregnant woman with Ayushman Bharat Card should not be deprived of free services. This was asserted by Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during his visit at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Monday. The Health Minister instructed the Principal and the Superintendent of SMCH that this aspect should be properly taken care of by them.
Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was accompanied to SMCH by the Minister of Department of Forest,Excise and Fishery Parimal Shuklabaidya, Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy, MLA Dilip Kumar Paul, Borkhola MLA Kishore Nath, Udharbond MLA Mihir Kanti Shome and Deputy Commissioner,Cachar, Laya Madduri. A formal meeting was held along with the officials of SMCH at its Seminar Hall.
Himanta Biswa Sarma had a detailed review of the architectural design of the 500 bed hospital building which would be built up on an area of 25,000 square feet at an estimated cost of approximately Rs. 110 crore. A threadbare discussion was held and he suggested some modifications, such as, additional toilet facilities for the attendants of the patients,solar lights to be fixed, additional lifts for the doctors etc. He also reviewed the Ayushma Bharat and Atal Amrit Abhiyan Schemes.
