PM Modi meets chess champion Koneru Humpy

New Delhi, December 3 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi today met chess champion Koneru Humpy and her family in New Delhi. In a social media post, Mr. Modi called her a sporting icon and a source of inspiration for aspiring players. He said her intellect and determination are clearly visible. He added that she has not only brought immense pride to India but has also redefined what excellence is.

Humpy is a runner-up of the Women’s World Chess Championship and the reigning two-time Women’s World Rapid Chess Champion. She clinched her second World Rapid title in New York two days before New Year. She had won her maiden title in 2019.
