Partha Pratim Samaddar becomes ‘Divyang Mitra’
February 29: Partha Pratim Samaddar, an official working with NATRIP in Jhapirbond has earned the distinction of ‘Divyang Mitra’ on Saturday. Partha has donated an amount for the welfare of Divyanganjan in memory of his late father. Dr. Shishir Biswas, Chairman, Divyanganjan Vikas Kendra along with Mithun Roy and other members of the Kendra provided Partha Pratim Samaddar ‘Divyang Mitra’ certificate.
A resident of Link Road, Silchar, Partha Pratim Samaddar expressed happiness to be honoured as a ‘Divyang Mitra’. He said, “Being able to do anything for the disadvantaged section of the society is the best thing one can do in his or her life.”
Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi uttered the word divyang and coined a new meaning for it. Divyang is a Hindi word meaning ‘the one with a divine body.’ The Prime Minister said that persons with disabilities should no longer be referred to as disabled persons or viklang. The word viklang is Hindi for someone with non-functional body parts. They should now be referred to as divyang or divyangjan.
