Parliament session extended till 7 August
July 25: The budget session of Parliament has been extended by eight working days till 7 August, Union parliamentary affairs minister Pralhad Joshi informed the Lok Sabha on Thursday. The session, which began on 17 June, was earlier scheduled to conclude on 26 July.
As soon as the triple talaq bill was passed in the House, Joshi rose to inform the Speaker Om Birla about the decision to extend the session. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs in New Delhi, according to sources.
Pralhad Joshi informed the House, “I have an important proposal. Since government has more than 17 bills which are proposed to be considered through this House, I propose through you that the session be extended till 7 August.”
Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar had said the Opposition has always demanded that Parliament should meet for more number of days.
