Barak Valley registers 205 positive cases on Tuesday
Sept. 29: The number of coronavirus positive cases are on the rise in Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Tuesday, the number of fresh cases in the valley was somewhat less in comparision to the previous days. A total of 205 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. It needs mention here that on Monday, Barak Valley registered 239 positive cases.
Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Tuesday in Barak Valley:
- Cachar: 133 positive cases (It was 140 on Monday)
- Karimganj: 27 positive cases (It was 69 on Monday)
- Hailakandi: 45 positive cases (It was 30 on Monday)
On Tuesday, a total of 133 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar district. During the day, a total of 6096 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done in Cachar, out of which, 123 persons were found positive, whereas 10 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Tuesday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 8,995. It needs mention here that 140 persons were found positive in Cachar on Monday.
In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Tuesday said that in the last 24 hours, 172 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 636 persons were collected. 201 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 14 of them tested positive. Further, 163 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 05 were found positive.
Apart from this, 14 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 10 were discharged. At present, there are 112 active patients at SMCH,out of which, 16 are admitted in ICU and 02 in ventilation. 18 patients are now in critical condition. Another 08 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 179 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 335 patients.
Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, no person have died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. The deceased is from Cachar district. As of now, there were 146 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 146 deaths, 59 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
In Karimganj district, a total of 27 persons were detected as novel coronavirus positive on Tuesday. During the day, a total of 3723 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which 27 persons were found positive. Further, another 36 persons got cured and were subsequently discharged from across Karimganj district on Tuesday.
45 fresh COVID-19 positive cases have been reported from South Assam’s Hailakandi district on Tuesday, taking the total tally to 3,064. Health authorities here disclosed that of the 45 positive cases, 42 have been detected under the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). Altogether 3,518 swab samples were taken on Tuesday. Altogether 1,764 cases have been found positive under RAT with over 50 per cent without travel history. 2,835 persons on being cured have been released from hospitals.The number of active cases is 210.
On Tuesday, a total of 1,34,570 tests were done in Assam, out of which, 3592 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive. With this, the state tally of novel coronavirus has now gone upto 1,77,221, out of which 34,241 are active cases. Further, during the day, another 13 persons died due to COVID-19, thereby taking the death toll of the state to 680.
