শিক্ষক দিবসে সুধাংশু শেখর দে পুরকায়স্থকে ছন্দনীড়ের সম্মান
On Teachers’ Day ‘Chhandanir’ felicitates Sudhangshu Shekhar Dey Purkayastha

৫ সেপ্টেম্বর : শিক্ষক দিবসের পুণ্য লগ্নে শিলচর নরসিং উচ্চতর মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়ের প্রাক্তন শিক্ষক সুধাংশু শেখর দে পুরকায়স্থকে সম্মান জানাল শহরের সামাজিক ও সাংস্কৃতিক সংগঠন ছন্দনীড়। গণিতের এই শিক্ষক তাঁর পাঠদান, মেধা ও সারল্যের জন্য এখনও ছাত্রদের অন্তরে শ্রদ্ধার আসনে রয়েছেন।

মহান শিক্ষক দিবসের সকালেই ছন্দনীড়ের এক প্রতিনিধি দল হাজির হয়ে গিয়েছিল শিলচর শিববাড়ি রোডে শিক্ষকের বাড়িতে। উত্তরীয় পরিয়ে দিয়ে তাঁর হাতে একটি সম্মাননা পত্র তুলে দেন তাঁরা।

এভাবে এক ব্যতিক্রমী ভাবনায় ছন্দনীড় দিনটি পালন করেছে। কোনও প্রথাগত অনুষ্ঠান আয়োজন না করে এই অবসরপ্রাপ্ত শিক্ষকের বাড়ি গিয়ে অন্তর থেকে তাঁকে শ্রদ্ধা জানিয়েছেন ছন্দনীড়ের সদস্যরা। কামনা করেছেন তাঁর আশীর্বাদ। প্রসঙ্গত, ছন্দনীড়ের এই প্রতিনিধি দলের অনেকেই সুধাংশু শেখর দে পুরকায়স্থের সরাসরি ছাত্র।

এ দিন এই শিক্ষককে সম্মান জানিয়ে ছন্দনীড়ের সম্পাদক ভাস্কর দাস বলেন, এই মহান শিক্ষককে সম্মান জানিয়ে তাঁরা নিজেরাই গর্বিত বোধ করেছেন।এ দিন সম্মাননা গ্রহণ করে শিক্ষক বর্তমান শিক্ষা ব্যবস্থার ওপর আলোকপাত করেন। তিনি বলেন, একসময় গোটা সমাজ শিক্ষকদের খুব সম্মান করতো, কিন্তু এখন কিছু শিক্ষকের নেতিবাচক কাজের জন্য জনগণের কাছে পুরো শিক্ষক সমাজই কলুষিত হচ্ছেন। তিনি আরও বলেন, পাঠদান হল একটি অনন্য পেশা। তিনি সরকারি স্কুলগুলোর এখনকার অবস্থার কথাও তুলে ধরেন।

ছন্দনীড়ের এই প্রতিনিধি দলে ভাস্কর দাস ছাড়াও ছিলেন কানাইলাল দাস, পার্থ শীল, কিশোর চৌধুরী, সুবীর গুপ্ত ও সুশান্ত চক্রবর্তী ছিলেন।

September 5: On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, ‘Chhandanir’, a socio-cultural organization felicitated Sudhangshu Shekhar Dey Purkayastha, a former teacher of Narshing H.S. School, Silchar. Mr. Paul Choudhury was a teacher of Mathematics and won the hearts of his students for his brilliance and simplicity.

In the early morning of Teachers’ Day, team Chhandanir went to the house of Sudhangshu Shekhar Dey Purkayastha at Shib Bari Road, Silchar and handed over a citation and ‘uttario.’ ‘Chhandanir’ is known to observe occasions in a unique way. So instead of organizing any formal ceremony, they went to the house of the retired teacher, honoured him and took his blessings. Interestingly, the members of ‘Chhandanir’ who went to felicitate Mr. Dey Purkayastha were also his direct students.

Expressing satisfaction, Bhaskar Das, Secretary of ‘Chhandanir’ said that they all felt honoured to be able to felicitate a great teacher. Mr. Dey Purkayastha expressed concern about the present day educational scenario. He said that “Teachers were once respected by the society very much, but at present due to the negative activities of a handful of teachers, the entire community is looked down upon the by the people.” He also said that teaching is the most noble profession. He also highlighted the miserable plight of the government schools.

Apart from Bhaskar Das, also present during the occasion were Kanailal Das, Partha Shil, Kishore Choudhury, Subir Gupta and Sushanta Chakroborty.
