NRC remains key issue in Independence Day speeches

বরাক উপত্যকায় স্বাধীনতা দিবসের বক্তৃতায় এ বার এনআরসি-ই বিশেষ গুরুত্ব পেয়েছে। সরকারি কি বেসরকারি, কৃতিত্ব কি দোষারোপ—সবেতেই উঠে এসেছে নাগরিক পঞ্জির কথা। শিলচরে জেলা ক্রীড়া সংস্থার স্টেডিয়ামে জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলন করেন রাজ্যের বিদ্যুত ও শ্রম মন্ত্রী পল্লবলোচন দাস। তিনি তাঁর বক্তৃতায় বলেন, আমরাই এই এনআরসি করতে সক্ষম হয়েছে। একটাই লক্ষ্য, একজন বিদেশির নামও যেন নাগরিক পঞ্জিতে না ঢোকে। শিলচরের সভা থেকে তিনি বৃহত্তর অসমিয়া সমাজ গঠনেরও আহ্বান জানান। করিমগঞ্জে জাতীয় পতাকা তুলে বন ও আবগারি মন্ত্রী পরিমল শুক্লবৈদ্য এনআরসি নিয়ে উতকণ্ঠিত না হতে পরামর্শ দেন। তিনি জানান, প্রত্যেক প্রকৃত ভারতীয়র নাম নাগরিক পঞ্জিতে তোলার ব্যাপারে তাঁর সরকার প্রতিশ্রুতিবদ্ধ। অন্যদিকে, হাইলাকান্দিতে জেলা পর্যায়ের সরকারি অনুষ্ঠানে জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলন করেন জেলাশাসক আদিল খান। তিনি জানান, এনআরসি প্রক্রিয়ায় এখন নাম না ওঠার কারণ জানানো হচ্ছে। পরে শুরু হবে দাবি-আপত্তির আবেদনপত্র বিলি। তিনি সংশ্লিষ্টদের সময়মতো এই প্রক্রিয়ায় অংশ নিতে অনুরোধ জানান।

সকাল থেকে প্রখর রোদের দরুন স্বাধীনতা দিবসের জেলা পর্যায়ের অনুষ্ঠানে প্যারেডে অংশগ্রহণকারীদের অনেকে অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়েন। করিমগঞ্জে অনুষ্ঠান চলাকালে ঢলে পড়েন ডিএসপি (প্রবেশনারি) জিকি মহন্ত। শিলচরে মন্ত্রীর বক্তৃতার সময়েই হঠাত পড়ে যান লাইনে দাঁড়ানো আসাম পুলিশের এক কনস্টেবল। স্কাউটস অ্যান্ড গাইডসের বেশ কয়েকজন স্বেচ্ছাসেবক অভিবাদন শুরু হওয়ার আগেই শারীরিক সমস্যার দরুন লাইন থেকে বেরিয়ে পড়তে বাধ্য হয়।

শিলচরে বঙ্গ ভবনের স্বাধীনতা দিবসের অনুষ্ঠানেও এনআরসি ইস্যুতে উদ্বেগ প্রকাশ করেন কেন্দ্রীয় সভাপতি সৌরীন্দ্রকুমার ভট্টাচার্য, সহ-সভাতি বিভাসরঞ্জন চৌধুরী, জেলা সভাপতি তৈমুর রাজা চৌধুরী। শিলচর সরকারি বালক উচ্চতর মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়ে জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলন করেন অধ্যক্ষা পারভিন সুলতানা লস্কর। স্বাধীনতা দিবস উপলক্ষে ১৪ আগস্ট স্কুলে আকস্মিক বক্তৃতা, ক্যুইজ, চিত্রাঙ্কন প্রতিযোগিতা হয়। ১৫ আগস্ট প্রতিযোগিতায় বিজয়ীদের পুরস্কৃত করা হয়।

আর্য সংস্কৃতি বোধনী সমিতি স্বাধীনতা দিবসের সঙ্গে ঋষি অরবিন্দের জন্মদিনও পালন করে। সেখানে গৌতম ভট্টাচার্য, বিপ্লব দেবনাথ, বিশ্বজিত রায়বর্মন প্রমুখ বক্তৃতা করেন। ছিল সঙ্গীত, বাণীপাঠও।

বরাক উপত্যকার প্রতিটি রোটারি ক্লাব ও লায়ন্স ক্লাব নানা কর্মসূচিতে দিনটি পালন করে। স্বাধীনতা দিবস উপলক্ষে বরাক ভ্যালি ভলান্টারি ব্লাড ডোনার্স ফোরাম শিলচর পুরভার সহায়তায় রক্তদান শিবিরের আয়োজন করে। মোট ৩১জন এই শিবিরে রক্ত দেন। এ ছাড়াও খাদ্য বিতরণ, খেলাধূলা, স্বাস্থ্যশিবির ইত্যাদিও হয়।

The NRC issue has remained the central theme of the speeches delivered in Barak Valley during Independence Day celebrations. At Silchar, the national flag was hoisted by Pallabh Lochan Das, Minister of Power & Labour in the field of DSA. In his speech, Mr. Das took credit on behalf of his government for the successful upgradation of NRC. At Karimganj, after hoisting the tricolor, Parimal Suklabaidya, Forest and Excise Minister said that there is no necessity to panic and the names of genuine Indian citizens will definitely be included before the publication of the final list. On the otherhand, at Hailkandi Adil Khan, Deputy Commissioner of the district hoisted the flag and said that people will get enough time to settle their claims and correction of details. He urged upon all to submit the requisite forms within the stipulated time.

Due to the scorching heat since early morning, many participants in the parade fell unconscious. Jiki Mohanta, DSP (Probationary) became unconscious and fell on the ground at Karimganj. At Silchar too, a constable of the Assam Police became unconscious during the ministers speech. Some members of the Scouts and Guides also moved out of the ground being unable to withstand the heat.

During the Independence Day programme at Banga Bhawan, Silchar concern was raised on the NRC issue by its central President Sourindra Kumar Bhattacharjee, Vice-President Bibhas Ranjan Choudhury, District President Taimur Raja Choudhury and others. Independence Day was observed at Silchar Government Boys Higher Secondary School where its Principal Parveen Sultana Laskar hoisted the national flag. In this connection various competitions was held among the students on August 14. The winners were handed over prize on August 15.

Apart from these, various other associations and institutions like Rotary Club, Lions Club and others observed the day in a befitting manner. Barak Valley Voluntary Blood Donors Forum organized a blood donation camp in association with Silchar Municipality Board. A total of 31 persons donated blood in this camp.
