‘No work no pay’ during bandh on 8 January: Assam Government

January 07: In a W.T. Message issued by the Deputy Secretary to the Government of Assam, Personnel (B) Department on 7 January, it was stated that certain organisations has given a call for general strike on 8 January, 2020. It was in this context that the state government has directed that all government offices and services should function normally during the strike period.

The W.T. Message issued to the Commissioners further urged them to take necessary steps to ensure normal functioning of all government offices and services during the bandh. All concerned officials of the state were directed to initiate pay cut and other actions under F.R. (1), that is, “No Work No Pay” principle. The same message was also forwarded to the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assam for arranging wide publicity through mass media.

Meanwhile, Barnali Sharma, District Magistrate, Cachar has also issued an order to all Heads of Office of Cachar District wherein she has strictly instructed to ensure normal functioning of all government offices and servicesduring the strike call period on 8 January, 2020.

Infact, Ten central trade unions INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA, AICCTU, LPF, UTUC along with various sectoral independent federations and associations on Monday said around 25 crore people will participate in a nationwide strike on 8 January, 2020 to protest against the government’s “anti-people” policies.
