Netizens to use social media wisely, says Assam Police
December 20: Additional Director General Police (Law and Order) GP Singh took to Twitter and wrote, “Friends, the mobile internet services are being restored to enable people to go about life in a normal manner. Please be wise in writing, forwarding posts on various social media platforms. Let’s build a stronger Assam together. Looking forward to continued support.”
It needs mention here that after a gap of 9 days, mobile internet services were restored in Assam. At around 9 AM on 20 December, the service was restored. Following the passage of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 in the Rajya Sabha, violent protest started in various parts of Assam. As a sequence, internet services was snapped in the state from 11 December, 2019.
GP Singh asked the netizens to be wise in writing, forwarding posts on various social media platforms amidst the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) row after the mobile internet services was restored. The restoration of mobile internet services have brought in respite for the people of Assam in general and for those whose livelihood is dependent on internet in particular.
