Music heals! Kabir Suman sings a melodious Kheyal while being admitted in hospital, click to listen
July 5: Bengali singer and musician Kabir Suman was admitted to Cabin No 103 of the Woodburn Ward of the state-run SSKM Hospital in Kolkata on Monday morning after he complained of severe respiratory problems. The 72 years old popular singer and former TMC MP, Suman was having severe throat pain and breathing trouble for the last three days. Though his Covid test reports were negative, he was kept under observation and his condition was learnt to be stable.
However, for a musician of his strature, it is very difficult to stay away from music. Recently, a video of Kabir Suman became viral in social media where the veteran artist is seen to sing a melodious Bengali Kheyal in Raag Hanswadhani in Rupal Taal inside his cabin at SSKM Hospital, Kolkata. Suman was heard playing a Tanpura device and pre-recorded Tabla in Taal Rupak to which he was singing the light classical song. The video was shared in Facebook by Manisha Dasgupta, Sr. Copywriter at Advertising & Digital Media. The 7.03 minutes video has been shared by more than 1,500 persons and has soon become a hit. Kabir Suman sung this song in his hospital cabin on 4 July, 2021.
