MP Silchar & DC Cachar plans for alternate road to ease traffic congestion
February 20: Traffic congestion has become a regular affair in Silchar. Be it day or night, Sunday or working days, roads remain crowded, vehicular traffic ceases to move an inch. In order to minimise the traffic congestion of Silchar town, particularly near Railway Station, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar Barnali Sharma, Member of Parliament, Silchar, Dr Rajdeep Roy along with Circle officer, Silchar, Drubhajoyti Pathak and concerned officials went in person and tried to offer a plausible solution to this burning issue faced by the public.
DC Cachar along with MP Silchar and other concerned officials inspected the condition of the road adjacent to the Doordarshan Kendra, Silchar (DDK Silchar) connecting Ramnagar, which can be used as an alternative road for movement of vehicles connecting Tarapur and Ramnagar.
While visiting the site, Dr Rajdeep Roy said that to decongest Silchar town, the plan of making functional an alternative road has been taken up by the Cachar District Administration. He said that this road will connect West Silchar through Chirukandi to Karimganj road.
Dr. Roy suggested the Deputy Commissioner to make provision so that wide roads can be constructed for the movement of heavy vehicles and added that very soon developmental works will also be initiated for the benefit of the inhabitants of the area where alternative road will be constructed. Dr. Rajdeep Roy also informed that compensation in the form of land allotment will be given to the owners of the houses in whose area the proposed road will be build.
