MP Dr Rajdeep Roy & Ranjit Das meets people in Dhubri who fled from Bengal post-poll violence

May 5: A day after the results of the Assembly elections were declared, violence was unleashed in various parts of Bengal upon the BJP workers and their family. Even the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday sought a report from the West Bengal government on post-poll violence “targeting opposition political workers” in the state.

However, on 4 April, Assam BJP leader Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet informed that as a result of the post-poll violence in West Bengal, around 400 BJP party workers fled over to Dhubri in Assam. The minister informed that Assam has given them shelter and is providing them with food. Taking a dig at West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “This ugly dance of demonocracy must stop in Bengal.”

On Wednesday, Silchar MP and Assam Pradesh BJP General Secretary, Dr. Rajdeep Roy along with BJP Pradesh President, Ranjit Kumar Das visited the camps at Dhubri, where the persecuted people were provided shelter by the Assam government.

Taking to his twitter handle, MP Dr. Rajdeep roy wrote, “What India never thought, Bengal did. Kudos #Didi, Bengal has turned a full circle! The #Bengal that sheltered millions post 1971, is now driving out the same class of people to neighboring states. Land Jihad begins in Mamata’s Bengal. অসাধারন খেলা চলছে!” 

All the people who came to #Assam seeking refuge are from #Coochbehar District of #WestBengal, where out of 9 LACs, @BJP4Bengal won 7.

In another tweet, the BJP leader Dr. Roy wrote, “All the people who came to #Assam seeking refuge are from #Coochbehar District of #WestBengal, where out of 9 LACs, @BJP4Bengal won 7. Can only imagine the condition of the districts where TMC has majority seats. This is what Mamata has reduced #Bengal to. Deplorable!” 

Dr Rajdeep Roy along with his state party President Ranjit Kumar Das listened to the plight of the people in the camps and also distributed essential commodities to all of them. While expressing his views, Dr. Roy said, “Relief Camp at Agamoni, Dhubri District, where more than 600 people (primarily women and children) have been given shelter. The state BJP is ensuring that food and essentials are provided. More such camps were set up at other areas of the district.”

Once the land of Rabindranath Tagore where he taught his fellow countrymen about the spirit of peace and brotherhood, the destiny of Bengal has taken such a painful turn. Today, a tyrant in @MamataOfficial has taken oath as the Chief Minister with blood of innocents on her hands.

On Wednesday, State Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma informed, “Tragic exodus of people from Bengal continues! Over 450 people, who crossed over fearing ruthless oppression in Bengal, are put up in 2 shelters in Dhubri. They’re are getting relief, & also being tested for Covid-19.”

Meanwhile, after being sworn-in as the Chief Minister of West Bengal for the 3rd time in a row on Wednesday, Mamata Banerjee said that her first priority after resuming office will be to tackle the Covid-19 situation. “I will appeal to all political parties to maintain peace. Take proper care that there is no violence. West Bengal does not like violence, and I do not support violence,” added Ms. Banerjee.
