বড়দিনের সকালে রামনগরে খুন!
Man murdered at Ramnagar on Christmas day!

২৫ ডিসেম্বর : বড়দিনের সকালে খুশির মধ্যেও খুনের ঘটনার খবরে কিছুটা হলেও সুর কেটে গিয়েছে শিলচরের। রামনগরের আইএসবিটি সংলগ্ন এলাকায় সকালেই উদ্ধার হয়েছে এক ব্যক্তির মৃতদেহ। জাতীয় সড়কের পাশে মৃতদেহটি প্রথম চোখে পরে স্থানীয় জনগণের। কিছুক্ষণের মধ্যেই সেখানে লোক জড়ো হয়ে যায়। তবে এলাকার কেউ-ই মৃতদেহটি সনাক্ত করতে পারেননি।

এলাকার জনগণ সঙ্গে সঙ্গে খবর দেন পুলিশে। পুলিশ মৃতদেহটি উদ্ধার করে শিলচর মেডিক্যাল কলেজ হাসপাতালের মর্গে পাঠিয়েছে। পুলিশ সূত্রে জানা গেছে, মৃতদেহে একটি নৌকোর রশি বাঁধা ছিল। মৃতদেহের পরণে ছিল সাদা গেঞ্জি ও একটি লুঙ্গি।

এটি খুন না আত্মহত্যা সে ব্যাপারে পুলিশ এখনও নিশ্চিত হতে পারেনি। পুলিশ তদন্ত অব্যাহত রেখেছে। এক প্রত্যক্ষদর্শী জানিয়েছেন, মৃত ব্যক্তি ফেরি ব্যবসার সঙ্গে যুক্ত থাকার সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে। কেউ কেউ আবার জেলে বলেও সন্দেহ করছেন।

December 25: The joy of early Christmas morning was cut short by two incidents of unnatural death which took place at Silchar. In one incident, the body of a girl was found hanging in a mysterious position at Jail Road Silchar. In another incident, the dead body of man was recovered near ISBT area of Ramnagar. The body was first noticed by the local people. Within a short while, a huge crowd gathered there. But the dead body of the man could not be identified.

Local people immediately informed the police. Police came and took the body in its custody. The body was later on sent to the morgue of Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Police sources informed that the deadbody was tied with a rope usually used in boats. On the body was a white t-shirt and a ‘lungi’.

Police is not sure whether this is an incident of murder or suicide. Investigation is going on in this regard. An eye witness has revealed that the dead person may have been a vendor who sells products going around houses. While others suspect that the man might have been a fisherman.
