Local youths at Das Para in Kalimohan Road sanitises area, provides hand washing facility
March 28: At a time, when coronavirus is spreading its arms throughout the length and breadth of our country, many engaged in essential services have to venture out of their homes to provide service to the people at large. They are ofcourse at the risk of getting contaminated. Though not a single positive case of COVID-19 has not been reported from Assam, yet precaution stands to be the best way to contain the spread of the deadly virus.
Moreover, in many parts of Silchar, people disobeying the orders of lockdown are loitering in their lanes, thereby risking their own lives along with the lives of their close ones, locality, society and above all that of their nation. Inspite of repeated appeal, even many ‘educated’ persons seems to exhibit anger when advised to stay indoors.
But a complete contrast picture was seen on Saturday morning at Das Para area within Kalimohan Road, Silchar. Das Para is a locality where majority of the people are engaged in essential services. A somewhat poor locality, yet the youths of the area proved much more sensitive in comparison with the literates who are roaming about in the town searching fish and meat!
The local youths spend their own money, arranged big drums, filled water in them, mixed water purifier, kept soaps and offered all persons coming in the lane (Das Para) to wash their hands & feet properly. They even built a bamboo barricade at the entrance of the lane, thereby restricting the entry of unnecessary persons. They have also sprinkled bleaching powder, dettol in the entire area. Such an exemplary move by the youths earned praises from many quarters.
