Lions Club distribute 850 kg rice among 150 families
January 16: In the world of philanthropic activities, another feather was added to the wings of Lions Club of Silchar Central. On Wednesday, the Lions organised Rice Bag Challenge programme at 335 Tarapur L.P. School where they distributed 150 packets of Rice (each packet weighing 5 kg) among 150 families. Bharat Sevasram Sangha and Jana Kalyan club of the locality lend a helping hand to Lions Club of Silchar Central in this noble venture.
Apart from this event, Lions Club of Silchar Central also gave 100 kg rice to My Home India, a home where poor patients stay, while undergoing medical treatment. The project was undertaken to commemorate the birthday of Melvin Jones, the founder of Lions. The endeavour was undertaken vide one multiple one service activity programme.
Altogether, on Wednesday, Lions Club of Silchar Central distributed a total of 850 kg of rice, the market value for which stands at Rs. 27,200. Eight members of the organisation were involved in this project. Present during the occasion were Mrinmayananda Maharaj, Lion Amarnath Khandelwal, Nilanjan Gupta, Amit Khandelwal, Sumit Das, Soma Das among others.
