Leo Club of Silchar Central celebrates Independence Day by felicitating police & jawans

August 15: The 73rd Independence Day witnessed various forms of observation. All were churning their brains to come up with an out of the box idea to stand distinct even in a crowd when it comes to celebrate the day of freedom of the motherland. A similar attempt was made by the Leo Club of Silchar Central.

Being the young brigade of Lions Club of Silchar Central, the Leos began the day along with the Lions and joined them in hoisting the tricolour at Lions Eye Hospital, Silchar. Dr. M.Masoom, President of Lions Club of Silchar Central unfurled the national flag, which was followed by rendering of the National Anthem and Lions’ Pledge.

Addressing the Lions’ family, Dr. Masoom, President of the Club highlighted the need to serve the poor and the needy so that smiles can be brought back in the faces of all. The flag hoisting ceremony was attended by the members of both the Lions and the Leos.

It was then that the Leo Club of Silchar Central jumped into action. The members of the Leo Club were seen to felicitate the traffic police staff in various points of town with a tricolour badge and refreshment. They also felicitated police staff & officers and even visited the Sadar Police station where also they put the tricolour badges in their uniform. Apart from the police, they also felicitated CRPF Jawans. The young brigade also distributed sweets and soft drinks to the destitute.

Speaking to way2barak, Leo Rajdulali Mazumder said, “It’s indeed a matter of great glory for us all to celebrate our country’s independence. We have thought to honour the police and security personnel to make them feel that we recognise the hard work done by them to protect our country and keep our place safe and secured.”
