Leo Club of Karimganj Youth distributes new clothes among 16 children in 2 orphanages
September 29: A young brigade of the 21st century residing in a remote portion of Northeast India much far from the focus of the mainstream media has been relentlessly coming up with humanitarian projects, when many others of their age are busy in Facebook and WhatsApp. This young brigade is none other than Leo Club of Karimganj Youth, the youth wing of Lions Club of Karimganj .
A few days ago, they took to the streets of Karimganj town and distributed old clothes in good condition among the poor and needy. Within a week, the Leo Club of Karimganj Youth is again seen to come up with another humanitarian project. With Durga Puja knocking at the doors, the Bengalis are busy shopping purchasing new clothes to wear during the Puja days. Hardly people feel for those children who are orphans, who does not have any loving parent with them who could buy them clothes and toys.
Keeping this aspect in mind, Srinath Banik distributed new clothes in two orphanages of Karimganj. On Saturday, the Leos visited ‘Dinesh Chandra Deb Smriti Children House,’ where 11 orphans in the age group of 9 to 13 resides. They also visited ‘Swamiji Orphanage House,’ where five children between the tender age of 14 months and 2 years stay. A total of 16 children in both these orphanages were given new clothes by the Leos.
There at the orphanages, the Leo’s distributed new clothes to all the children. The eyes of the orphans were glittering with unspeakable joy to get new dresses. They spent a considerable amount of time with these children. The children also played with them and merrily posed for photographs.
Speaking to way2barak, Srinath Banik, President of Leo Club of Karimganj Youth said, “We are indeed fortunate enough as we are blessed to stay under the love and care of our parents. During Durga Puja, we all will wear new clothes purchased by our parents, but what about those children residing in the orphanages? It was then that we decided to visit the orphanages and distribute new clothes among the little kids.”
Leo Biswarup Deb, Secretary of the Club also was very elated to be a part of this humanitarian project. He said, “The smile in the faces of the children at the orphanages made our day. If alas the privileged section of the society would think for these little kids, then their life would certainly have been more beautiful.”
Present during the cloth distribution in the orphanages were Leo Srinath Banik, Leo Biswarup Deb, Leo Rimu Kr Deb, Leo Monojeet Dhar, Leo Bithika Choudhury, Leo Abhishek Chakroborty and Leo Anirudha Nandi.
