২ নভেম্বরঃ তিনসুকিয়ায় বাঙালি নিধনের প্রতিবাদে সরব বরাক উপত্যকা ভোর থেকেই প্রতিবাদমুখর। সকাল ৬টায় উচ্চস্তরীয় সভায় বসে  নেলেক (নর্থ ইস্ট লিঙ্গুইস্টিক অ্যান্ড এথনিক কো-অর্ডিনেশন কমিটি)। বৃহস্পতিবারের ঘটনার নানা দিক বিশ্লেষণ করে তাঁরা এখনই তীব্র প্রতিবাদ গড়ে তোলার সিদ্ধান্ত নেন। এ দিন দুপুরে শিলচর জেলা কংগ্রেসের পক্ষ থেকে পৃথকভাবে বনধের ডাক দেওয়া হয়েছে।

বাঙালি নিধন ইস্যুতে এ দিনের প্রতিবাদী কর্মসূচির মধ্যে রয়েছে বিকেল ৪টায় ক্ষুদিরাম মূর্তির পাদদেশে জমায়েত। কোনও বিশেষ সংগঠন এর আহ্বান না করলেও বিভিন্ন সংগঠনের পরিচিত সংগ্রামী ব্যক্তিত্বরাই এর আহ্বান জানিয়েছেন।

পুলিশ বৃহস্পতিবার গুলিচালনার ঘটনার পর থেকে আলফা (স্বাধীন)-কে দায়ী করে চললেও জঙ্গি সংগঠনটির পক্ষ থেকে শুক্রবার বিবৃতি প্রকাশ করে জানানো হয়েছে, তারা এই ঘটনার সঙ্গে কোনওমতে জড়িত নয়। আলফা (স্বাধীন)-এর প্রচার কমিটির সদস্য রুমেল অসম এক বাক্যের বিবৃতিতে তাঁদের জড়িত থাকার কথা অস্বীকার করেছেন। এর পরই আলফার আলোচনাপন্থী দুই নেতা মৃণাল হাজরিকা ও জিতেন দত্তকে গ্রেফতার করেছে পুলিশ। অসমের বাঙালিদের বিরুদ্ধে উসকানিমূলক বক্তব্যের জন্যই তাদের বন্দি করা হয়েছে। কিছুদিন আগে এই দুই প্রাক্তন জঙ্গিনেতা নাগরিকত্ব বিলের সমর্থন থেকে সরে না দাঁড়ালে বাঙালিদের ঘরে ঘরে ঢুকে হত্যার হুমকি দিয়েছিলেন। রাজ্যে ১৯৮৩ সালের দিনগুলিকে ফিরিয়ে আনার কথাও বলেছিল। এর পরই অবশ্য একবার মৃণালবাবুকে ডেকে পুলিশ সতর্ক করে দিয়েছিল। বৃহস্পতিবারের ঘটনার পেছনে এই ধরনের উস্কানি ইন্ধন জুগিয়েছে, এই অভিযোগে শুক্রবার সকালে পানবাজার পুলিশ তাঁকে গ্রেফতার করে। একই কারণে গুয়াহাটি থেকে তেজপুর যাওয়ার পথে গৌরীসাগর পুলিশ গ্রেফতার করে জিতেন দত্তকে।

এ দিকে বাঙালি ছাত্র ফেডারেশন শনিবার ২৪ ঘণ্টার অসম বনধের ডাক দিয়েছে। বরাকেও পৃথকভাবে বনধ ডাকার প্রস্তুতি চলছে। সে জন্য বেলা সাড়ে ১১টায় নেলেক ইন্ডিয়া ক্লাব ইন্ডোর স্টেডিয়ামে এক সভার আহ্বান করেছে। সম-মানসিকতার অর্থাত সমস্ত গেরুয়া সংগঠনগুলিকে তাতে অংশ গ্রহণের জন্য আমন্ত্রণ জানানো হয়েছে। সেই সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ করা হয়েছে সিআরপিসিসি-র মতো বেশ কিছু ভিন্ন মেরুর সংগঠনের নেতৃবৃন্দের সঙ্গেও। প্রাথমিক কথাবার্তায় অধিকাংশ নেলেক-নেতা শনিবার বরাক বনধ ডাকার প্রস্তাব দেন। সাড়ে ১১টার বৈঠকে মূলত ওই প্রস্তাবের ওপরই চর্চা হবে। অনুমান করা যায়, বনধ ডাকার প্রস্তাব বৈঠকে চূড়ান্ত হবে। সে ক্ষেত্রে মুশকিলে পড়বে করিমগঞ্জ, হাইলাকান্দির একাংশ স্কুল। শনিবার দুই জেলায় গুণোতসবের শেষদিন। সে দিন যে সব স্কুলে গুণোতসব হওয়ার কথা, বনধের প্রেক্ষিতে তাঁদের সমস্যার মুখে পড়তে হবে। সমস্যায় পড়বেন এক্সটারনাল ইনভিজিলেটররাও।

November 2: A strong wave of protest seems to loom large in Barak Valley on the issue of ruthless assassination of innocent Bengalis at Tinsukia on Thursday night. Civil Society of Silchar has already  called for a protest demonstration on Friday 4 PM near the Khudiram statue at Silchar.

Meanwhile, North East Linguistic and Ethnic Co-ordination Committee (NELECC) too has taken the issue quite seriously. In this regard, they have already  convened an emergency meeting on Friday early morning. Further NELECC has also  convened an emergent extended meeting of it’s own on Friday at 11.30 AM. The said meeting will be held in the indoor stadium of India Club, Silchar. NELECC has appealed to all its like minded associations to participate in the said meeting. Further, associations like CRPCC, Unconditional Citizenship Demand Forum and others have also been inviting to today’s meeting.

It has been learnt that NELECC has vehemently criticised  this act of violence upon the Bengalis. A source revealed that NELECC might in all likelihood adopt a resolution of Barak Bandh on Saturday in today’s emergent meeting.

In the meantime ULFA(I) in a press release issued by them denied their involvement in the gruesome killing of innocent Bengalis on Thursday night.

Police have arrested Mrinal Hazarika and Jiten Dutta of ULFA (I) for giving provocative speech against the Bengalis.

All Assam Bengali Youth Federation has already convened a 24 hour Assam bandh on Saturday. Cachar District Congress is learnt to have decided to the 12-hour bandh called on Saturday. NELECC too is contemplating Barak bandh on Saturday.

So a bandh seems to be in the cards on Saturday in Barak Valley. However, this would be a matter of grave concern for the districts of Hailakandi and Karimganj as Gunotsav, quality assessment of schools is going on at present. Even the External Evaluators of Gunotsav will have to face great difficulty if a bandh is convened on Saturday.
