Kejriwal takes oath as Delhi CM, begins third consecutive term

February 16: National Convenor of Aam Admi Party (AAP),Arvind Kejriwal has started his third term as Chief Minister of Delhi as he took oath as the Delhi CM at Delhi’s historic Ramlila Maidan on Sunday. The swearing-in ceremony began with the national anthem after which Delhi lieutenant-governor Anil Baijal invited Kejriwal along with his cabinet ministers to take oath. Six other AAP ministers—Manish Sisodia, Kailash Gahlot, Satyendar Jain, Gopal Rai, Imran Hussain and Rajendra Gautam—were also sworn in.

Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), won 63 seats out of 70 seats in the recently held Delhi polls.  In his speech, Kejriwal dedicated his party’s victory to the people of Delhi. The 51-year-old leader said that he had never discriminated against anybody. “I never said AAP won’t work for those who voted for the BJP,” he added.

Kejriwal, in his speech said that he had sent an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the event. “I sent an invitation to PM Modi. However, he could not come, maybe he is busy at some other event”.  He, then sought blessings from PM Modi from the stage. Kejriwal stated,  “But through this platform, I want to take blessings from PM and central government to develop Delhi and take it forward”.

A special guest, ‘junior Kejriwal’, who was invited for Arvind Kejriwal’s swearing-in ceremony, stole the show at Ramlila ground on Sunday. As Arvind Kejriwal took the oath as Delhi’s Chief Minister for a third term, the “Baby Mufflerman” on the other hand drew the attention from the large crowd. Inviting him to the function, the AAP had tweeted, “Big Announcement: Baby Mufflerman is invited to the swearing-in… . Suit up Junior”.

The chief minister also said that as the elections are over, he has “forgiven” his opponents for the remarks they made during the poll campaign. He added that this is not his but of every single Delhiite. “Your son has taken oath for the third time as the Delhi chief minister. This is not my victory but yours,” he said.
