Kapil Dev in ICU after sudden chest pain, undergoes emergency angioplasty
Oct. 23: India’s first World Cup-winning cricket captain Kapil Dev went to Fortis Escorts hospital’s emergency department at 1:00 am on October 23rd “with a “complaint of chest pain”. The 61-year-old cricket legend was immediately rushed to the ICU and underwent an angioplasty. The hospital said that Kapil Dev is in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) but in a stable condition, now. He is expected to be discharged in a “couple of days”.
It was under Kapil that India took that huge step towards becoming a cricketing powerhouse by winning the 1983 World Cup, beating the odds against the mighty West Indies in the final. Meanwhile, best wishes have poured in for Dev on social media.
Several sporting personalities, including Indian skipper Virat Kohli, badminton star Saina Nehwal, former India opener Gautam Gambhir and well-renowned commentator Harsha Bhogle took to Twitter to wish him a speedy recovery.
