Jyoti: Gauhati Medical College tops the list of NERICIQ (Quiz) 2019 with a thumping victory

November 10: The 15th North East Regional Inter College Invitational Quiz (NERICIQ) concluded on Sunday. Gauhati Medical College and Hospital achieved a huge victory. Apart from certificates and trophies, they also won a cash award of Rs. 50,000.

The Quiz Masters of this prestigious event were Jimut Bahan Laskar from IBM Bangalore and Abhra Das from Guwahati. Jimut an alumni of Holy Cross School Silchar have won the title in NERICIQ twice during the 90s. Abhra Das, a Cottonian from Guwahati is credited to have conducted numerous such events in various prestigious institutes of India.

A total of 6 teams made it up to the final round. In the grand finale held on Sunday, it was indeed a spectacular contest. The six teams which took part in the grand finale are Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, Tezpur University, National Law University Guwahati, Cotton University Guwahati, IIM Shillong and NIT (B) Silchar.

Gauhati Medical College & Hospital became scored 270 points and became the champions of NERICIQ 2019.

National Institute of Technology (NIT)-B, Silchar scored 140 and stood second. The 3rd position was bagged by Indian Innstitute of Management (IIM-B), Shillong with a score of 130. Tezpur University, National Law University and Cotton University scored 85, 50 and 30 respectively to be at 4th, 5th and 6th position.

The awards were handed over by Dr. Rajdeep Roy, MP Silchar and founder member of Jyoti along with Ravi Patwa and Gautam Goswami.  All participating teams were also given certificates. Further, mementos were handed over to all the members of Jyoti.
