Interaction Session held at Assam Assembly on socio-economic development of Barak Valley
July 23: On the initiative of the Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly, an Interaction Session on “Socio-Economic Development of Barak Valley” was held in the Central Hall of the Assembly on 23 July, 2019. In this connection, people from various walks of life of Barak Valley were invited to share their views on this germane issue.
While airing his views, Speaker, Hitendra Nath Goswami said, “While conducting the Assembly proceedings, I have noticed that many major socio-economic issues deserve in depth deliberations. After discussion with the Leader of the House and the Leader of the Opposition, a new clause ‘Speaker’s Initiative’ has been incorporated. I have decided to take up the issue of socio-economic upliftment of Barak Valley of Assam and other related matters of the areas which deserves serious attention of the Government under- Speaker’s Initiative.”
Present in the dias were State Minister Parimal Suklabaidya, Silchar MLA Dilip Kumar Paul, Lakhipur MLA Rajdeep Goala and others. All the Speakers highlighted the fact that the Members of the Assembly will be highly benefited by being able to interact with the experienced and knowledgeable persons on this subject.
Present during the interaction session were Taimur Raja Choudhury, Sanjeeb Deb Laskar, Sanat Koiri, Dr. Shuvajit Chakraborty, Arijit Aditya among others. Speaking to way2barak, Dr. Subhajit Chakraborty, Associate Professor of Nehru College, Pailapool said, “It was a very fruitful session and I would like to thank the Speaker for this wonderful initiative. The Speaker assured that outcome of the deliberations of this interactive session will be handed over to the MLA’s for future policy formulations for the socio-economic development of Barak Valley.”
It needs mention here that the Speaker also gave opportunity to all the invited guests who participated in this session to witness the discussion on 25 July, 2019 at the Assam Legislative Assembly.
