Inner Wheel Club installed Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine at Radhamadhab College
November 8: Girls and women are more mobile now and spend significant hours outside the home, and they do need menstrual hygiene five days a month, each month. Periods often catch one, unprepared – vending machines are a simple and affordable answer to bring convenience to nearly half of our population, outside homes. Keeping this aspect in mind, Inner Wheel Club of Silchar installed a Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine at Radhamadhab College, Silchar.
In his speech, Dr. P.K. Sinha, Principal of the college, welcomed the members of Inner Wheel Club and expressed thanks for their yeoman service. He said, “I would like to thank Inner Wheel Club for getting installed the machine for the girl students of the college. The machines dispense a pad at Rs 5, which is affordable for the students.” Earlier, the members of Women Cell of the college felicitated Jhumki Saha, President of Inner Wheel Club, Silchar.
Addressing the female students, Jhumki Saha said, “We have got this machine installed in the Girls Common Room for your use when you need it. We will demonstrate how to use it and will also show the process of refilling the machine to your teachers.I hope this machine will be of immense benefit to you all.” She further said that this Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine was donated to Inner Wheel Club by Tumpa Roy Goswami in the fond memory of her mother Bani Roy, which they have installed in Radhamadhab College.
Apart from Jhumki Saha and Tumpa Roy Goswami, Inner Wheel Club of Silchar was also represented by Madhuparna Basak, Sangeeta Roy, Ankita Ghosh, Minu Gope, Debjani Roy, Kabita Singhi, Madhumita Majumdar and Moumita Gupta.
Dr. Nabanita Debnath, Convenor of the Women Cell of Radhamadhab College along with its other members Dr. Ashima Roy, Dr. Kankana Nath, Dr. Sonali Choudhury, Arundhuti Dutta Choudhury, Dr. Ruma Nath Choudhury, Dr. Piya Das were present during the occasion.
