Inner Wheel Club distributes eco-friendly bags among the merchants at Fatak Bazarফাটকবাজারে ব্যবসায়ীদের ইকো ফ্রেন্ডলি ব্যাগ বিতরণ করল ইনার হুইল
November 14: The district administration of Cachar has implemented the ban on plastic carry bags responding to the call of the state government. On the face of it, people were asked to use carry bags made from alternative substances which ought to be eco-friendly. Responding to the call of the district administration, Inner Wheel Club of Silchar distributed eco-friendly carry bags among the merchants of Silchar Fatak Bazar.
Carry bags of different colours with the name of Inner Wheel Club of Silchar printed on it were distributed by them. Along with it, the members of Inner Wheel also made an appeal to all the merchants of Fatak Bazar to say no to plastics. They went from shop to shop spreading awareness and distributing the bags on last Saturday.
Speaking to way2barak, Jhumki Saha, President of Inner Wheel Club of Silchar said, “It is ofcourse not possible to provide carry bags in huge quantity to all the merchants. But we have just made a beginning to make them aware so that carry bags made from alternative materials can also be used in lieu of plastic. 400 eco-friendly bags were distributed by us. We also explained to them the negative effects of plastic on the environment and urged upon them to say no to plastics for good.”
Apart from Jhumki Saha, Madhuparna Basak, Minu Gope, Sutapa Bhattacharjee, Puja Banik, Moumita Gupta and others took part in this occasion.
