In Assam, Rajdeep Roy got the maximum number of postal ballots

May 26: Last time, it was 16 May and this year the date is 23 May. Within a gap of 5 years and 17 days, the whole of India was successfully united under the umbrella of BJP and its allies by the charismatic Narendra Modi. the stage is set now for not only the nation but for the whole world to witness Modi 2.0 in power after getting an over-whelming majority.
During Modi’s first term as the Prime Minister, Silchar failed to stand beside him as the seat was won by Congress candidate Sushmita Dev. However, this time BJP had a spectacular victory at Silchar. BJP candidate Dr. Rajdeep Roy defeated Congress heavyweight Sushmita Dev by a wide margin of 81,596 votes.Silchar is the second Lok Sabha seat in India (HP-02-Silchar).
In 1977, Congress candidate Rashida Haque Choudhury got 56 percent of votes in her favour from Silchar. It is almost after 42 years that BJP candidate Dr. Rajdeep Roy got 52.59 percent votes in 2019. It needs mention here that in 1980 Congress candidate Santosh Mohan Dev got 52 percent votes from Silchar.
Among all those candidates who won from Assam this time, Rajdeep Roy from Silchar got the maximum number of postal ballots in his favour; whereas the least number of postal ballots were secured by AIUDF Supremo Badar Uddin Ajmal from Dhubri. On the other hand, if both the winners and losers are taken together, then the highest number of postal ballots went in favour of the Barpeta’s defeated candidate Kumar Dipak Das of AGP. He got 3587 postal ballots. Whereas, another defeated candidate, Pramila Rani Brahma, BPP candidate from Kokrajhar 3364 postal ballots.
