ILP: Drive to check influx of illegal migrants in Arunachal, 170 nabbed
January 27: Executive Magistrates along with local police conducted a drive to check the influx of illegal migrants having no inner-line permit (ILP). A total of 170 persons were nabbed in this exercise for not possessing valid ILP documents. Out of the 170, 63 were nabbed from Itanagar, whereas 86 from Naharlagun, were apprehended.
At Banderdewa, 21 people were caught without valid ILPs. Later, they were brought before the executive magistrate at the mobile court and all violators were deported out of the state through the Banderdewa checkgate. However, the administration said the genuine people can always apply forILP with valid documents and enter the state by following due procedure of rule.
Many fake ILP passes were also detected during the drive and action would soon be taken against such illegal syndicate issuing fake ILPs. It is appealed that people should not approach for passes from such illegal operators lest they should land up in trouble unnecessarily. He further informed that the drive would continue from time to time.
