‘I don’t want to contest 2021 Assembly polls,’ says Himanta
December 13: In an almost unbelievable development, State Finance Minister and BJP heavyweight leader in Assam Himanta Biswa Sharma while addressing the media at Amingaon, Guwahati said that he won’t be contesting the 2021 Assembly Elections. Himanta said, “I don’t want to contest the 2021 Assembly Elections as my body needs a break and I want to take some rest. If the party demands, then may be I will respond to the call.” However, he refrained from elaborating much on this issue.
He expressed happiness at the trend and result of Panchayat polls. Further, as regards the victory of MNF in Mizoram, Himanta said, “It is a revival of the Northeast Democratic Alliance (NEDA) in the entire Northeast.”
