৫ ডিসেম্বর : কাগজ কল চালু করার প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়েও তা ভঙ্গ করেছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। ফলে বরাকে এসে ভোট চাওয়ার তাঁর কোনও অধিকার নেই। বুধবার ভোটের প্রচারে বরাক সফরে আসা মুখ্যমন্ত্রী সর্বানন্দ সনোয়ালকে ‘মিথ্যাবাদী’ আখ্যা দেওয়ার পাশাপাশি মানব শৃঙ্খল গড়ে প্রতিবাদ জানালেন এইচপিসি পেপার মিল রিভাইবেল অ্যাকশন কমিটির কর্মকর্তারা। শুধু মুখ্যমন্ত্রীই নন, আন্দোলনকারীরা প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদিকেও বাক্যবাণে বিদ্ধ করেছেন।

বুধবার সকালে আগের ঘোষণা অনুযায়ী অ্যাকশন কমিটির সদস্যরা পাঁচগ্রাম ধলেশ্বর পয়েন্টে মানব শৃঙ্খল গড়ে তোলেন। এই আন্দোলনে সামিল হন কাগজ কল কর্মীদের পরিবারের সদস্যরাও। ‘মুখ্যমন্ত্রী গো ব্যাক’ স্লোগান দিয়ে তারা গোটা এলাকা উত্তাল করে তোলেন। ‘বেতন নেই তো ভোট নেই’ এমন স্লোগানও শোনা যায়।

আন্দোলনকারীদের পক্ষে জনৈক মহিলা সদস্য বলেন, গত দু’বছর থেকে বেতন না পেয়ে কর্মীদের পরিবারের সদস্যরা অনাহারে অর্ধাহারে রয়েছেন। ছেলেমেয়েদের পড়াশোনা করানো সম্ভব হচ্ছে না। ওই মহিলা সদস্য বলেন, মুখ্যমন্ত্রী প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়েছিলেন, দুটি মিল চালু করা তাঁর সরকারের প্রেসটিজ ইস্যু। কিন্তু আজ তাঁর সেই প্রেসটিজ কোথায় গেল? বেতন না দিয়ে তাদের ভবিষ্যত অন্ধকারের দিকে ঠেলে দিয়েছে বর্তমান বিজেপি সরকার।

অ্যাকশন কমিটির মুখ্য আহবায়ক মানবেন্দ্র চক্রবর্তী বলেন, কালীনগরে এসে নির্বাচনী সভায় প্রধানমন্ত্রী কাগজ কল চালুর আশ্বাস দিয়েছিলেন। কিন্তু সেই প্রতিশ্রুতি আজ পূরণ করার কোনও তাগিদ নেই প্রধানমন্ত্রীর। তিনি অভিযোগ করেন, ২৪ মাস থেকে বেতন বন্ধ করে দিয়ে ৪৯ জন শ্রমিকের জীবন শেষ করে দিয়েছে সরকার। কিন্তু তারপরও মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বরাকে ভোট ভিক্ষা করতে এসেছেন। এ অবস্থায় এখানে তাঁর ভোট চাওয়ার কোনও অধিকার নেই। তিনি বলেন, প্রতিশ্রুতি পূরণ না করলে বরাক ও ব্রহ্মপুত্র উপত্যকার মানুষ তাঁকে কখনই ক্ষমা করবে না।

তিনি আরও বলেন, দেশের রাষ্ট্রপতি কাগজ কলের কর্মীদের বেতন প্রদানের জন্য ৯০ কোটি টাকা দেওয়ার কথা বলেছিলেন। সেই টাকাও প্রধানমন্ত্রী ও মুখ্যমন্ত্রী হাপিশ করে নিয়েছেন। এই টাকা তারা কোথায় খরচ করেছেন, তার জবাব তাদের দিতে হবে। আগামী লোকসভা নির্বাচনের আগে দুটি কাগজ কল চালু না হলে বরাক উপত্যকার মানুষ ভোটবাক্সে এর জবাব দেবেন।

Production will once again start at Panchgram Paper Mill. This was once again declared by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal during his election campaign in Barak Valley.

The same assurance was given by the CM during the ‘Namami Barak’ festival last year. Before him, similar assurance was given by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself. But all assurances and promises were fragile and now things have turned out to be more critical. Since the last two years, the employees of Paper Mill have not got their salaries. Don’t they feel ashamed to come and seek vote? This issue was raised by the employees of the paper mill on the face of the visit of Sarbananda Sonowal in Barak Valley. Though the Chief Minister went on helicopter yet a human chain was created by the HPC Paper Mills Revival Action Committee at Dholewswar point on Wednesday.

CM Sonowal on Wednesday addressed a poll gathering at Katlicherra (around 30 kms. from the spot of dharna by HPC Action Committee) and again assured to start production at Cachar Paper Mill, Panchgram. He said “We are trying our level best. We have left no stones unturned to find ways and means to revive the mill. We are in constant touch with the central government in this regard.” He further warned that once the mill is revived, all should endeavour to run it properly.

Meanwhile, at Dholeswar point slogans were raised against the ‘false promises’ made by the PM and CM from the Human Chain formed by the HPC Paper Mills Revival Action Committee. They even said that the ‘liar’ Chief Minister has no right to seek votes for Panchayat polls when he cannot keep his words.

Around 500 employees and their dependents of the paper mill could be seen participating in the human chain. All said the same story of apathy both by the state and the central government.

A lady, who is the wife of the mill employee narrated the miserable condition through which they were passing their lives. She said that the employees has not got their salary since the last 24 months. They are unable to manage even their food properly. She was all in tears when she mentioned that they are unable to contibue the studies of their children.

They said that that if the government fails to implement their promises, than the people of Barak valley will give a befitting reply to them during the ensuing elections.
