SBI donates 14 Garbage Collection Tricycle to NGO through Silchar Municipality
February 8: The State Bank of India (SBI) under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme donated 14 Garbage Collection Tricycle to NGO working in this sector through Silchar Municipal Board.
The Tricycles were donated by SBI for faster garbage disposal. In a programme organised in the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, Laya Madduri handed over the keys to the NGO specialised in this sector who are also recognised by Silchar Municipal Board.
As a part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme, SBI donated an amount of Rs. 16 lakh for this purpose. With this money, Silchar Municipal Board (SMB) initially purchased two Magic trucks for garbage disposal in the month of November. Now, 14 Garbage Collection Tricycles were purchased. The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) also lend a helping hand in this endeavour.

Speaking during the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri praised the role of SBI for lending their helping hand for a social cause. She further urged upon the citizens of the town to shoulder the responsibility of keeping their town neat and clean. She advised all to keep wet and dry garbage separately at home and to hand over these to the respective chambers of the Garbage Collection Tricycle.
In his speech, Niharendra Narayan Thakur, Chairperson of Silchar Municipality assured to try his level best to keep the town free of garbage. Also present during the occasion was ADC Rajib Roy and others.
