Heavy truck & tipper not to enter Silchar town area from 9 AM to 12 midnight

March 17: Traffic congestion in Silchar town area has become an order of the day. Be it morning, noon or night, commuters have to pass a major portion of their time being stranded in traffic jam. Moreover, the killer tipper has become a nightmare for the people of Silchar. The tragic death of journalist Molin Sharma last year by a killer tipper is known to all.

On the face of it, Cachar Police Administration has come up with some new directives to ease the traffic congestion of Silchar town and also to regulate the movement of trucks and tippers. In this connection an order was issued by Cachar Police Super Manabendra Dev Ray on Tuesday.

In the said order, Police Super Dev Ray stated, “To ensure safety of general public, vulnerable road users, free flow and smooth movement of vehicular traffic including lifesaving and emergency vehicles, like Ambulance, Fire tenders etc. and to reduce traffic congestion on busy Club Road, Central Road, Hospital Road, Sonal Road, & Medical road Silchar, I, Manabendra Dev Ray, APS, Superintendent of Police, Cachar, Silchar, therefore, In consultation with the local authorities having jurisdiction over it and under the powers conferred upon the undersigned under Section 115 of MV Act, 1988 and Section 93 of Assam Police Act, 2007 do hereby restrict temporarily entry and movement of all heavy vehicular Truck, Tipper inside Silchar town area from 9:00 AM to 12:00 midnight. This order will come into force with immediate effect.”
