Heavy rainfall likely to occur in Assam for next few days

July 25: Heavy rainfall forecast for Assam and Meghalaya has been made by the Indian Meteorological Department. As per the forecast by the Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati, Assam may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall on 25, 26, 28 & 29 July, 2019.

Heavy rainfall is also expected over Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the period. Meanwhile, the Northeast has been affected by the season’s first flood. However, due to the release of excess waters from the Kuricchu Hydropower Plant reservoirs in Kuricchu river in Bhutan, flood situation has worsened in Lower Assam.
