JNU: Chargesheet of sedition filed against Kanhaiya & 8 others by Delhi Police

১৪ জানুয়ারিঃ দীর্ঘ তিন বছর পর দিল্লি পুলিশের বিশেষ শাখা সোমবার দেশদ্রোহিতা মামলায় ৯ জন জেএনইউ ছাত্রের বিরুদ্ধে ১২০০ পাতার চার্জশিট দাখিল করল। ২০১৬ সালের ফেব্রুয়ারি মাসে জেএনইউ ক্যাম্পাসে একটি অনুষ্ঠান চলাকালীন এদের বিরুদ্ধে দেশবিরোধী শ্লোগান দেওয়ার অভিযোগ উঠেছিল। এই ৯ ছাত্রের মধ্যে কানহাইয়া কুমারের নাম যেমন রয়েছে, তেমনি দিল্লি পুলিশ ওই চার্জশিটে জেএনইউয়ের উমর খলিদ এবং অনির্বাণ ভট্টাচার্যেরও নামও এনেছে। বাকি ছাত্রদের মধ্যে আকিব হোসেন, মুজিব হোসেন, মুনিব হোসেন, উমর গুল, রাইয়া রাসল, বশির ভাট ও বাসারতের নাম রয়েছে।

পাতিয়ালা হাউস কোর্ট মঙ্গলবার ওই চার্জশিট খতিয়ে দেখবে।কানহাইয়া কুমার এবং আরও ৯ জনের বিরুদ্ধে ভারতীয় দণ্ডবিধি ১২৪ এ (দেশদ্রোহিতা), ৩২৩ (জ্ঞাতসারে আহত করা), ৪৬৪ (জালিয়াতি), ৪৭১ (জাল নথিকে প্রামাণ্য নথি হিসেবে ব্যবহার), ১৪৩ (বেআইনি ভাবে জড়ো হওয়া), ১৪৯ (একই উদ্দেশ্যে বেআইনি ভাবে জড়ো হওয়া), ১৪৭ (দাঙ্গাহাঙ্গামা) এবং ১২০ বি ধারা প্রয়োগ করা হয়েছে। দিল্লি পুলিশের স্পেশাল সেল পাতিয়ালা হাউস কোর্টে এই পিটিশন দাখিল করেছে। ঘটনার বেশ কয়েকদিন পরে, এঁদের বিরুদ্ধে এফআইআর দায়ের করা হয়। ২০১৬ সালের ৯ ফেব্রুয়ারি সংসদ হামলায় সাজাপ্রাপ্ত আফজল গুরুর ফাঁসির বিরুদ্ধে প্রতিবাদে শামিল হয়েছিলেন অভিযুক্তরা। এফআইআরে বলা হয়েছে, ওই প্রোগ্রাম চলাকালীন দেশবিরোধী শ্লোগান দেওয়া হয়েছিল।

প্রসঙ্গত, সে সময়ে জেএনইউ স্টুডেন্টস ইউনিয়নের প্রেসিডেন্ট ছিলেন কানহাইয়া কুমার। তিনি বলেছেন, লোকসভা নির্বাচনের আগে এই চার্জশিট দাখিল রাজনৈতিকভাবে উদ্দেশ্যপ্রণোদিত। তিনি বলেছেন, “চার্জশিট দাখিলের খবর যদি সত্যি হয়, তাহলে আমি পুলিশ এবং মোদিজিকে ধন্যবাদ দিতে চাই। তিন বছর পর, ভোটের আগে চার্জশিট দাখিলের ঘটনা পরিষ্কার দেখিয়ে দিচ্ছে যে ব্যাপারটা রাজনৈতিক উদ্দেশ্যপ্রণোদিত। দেশের বিচারব্যবস্থার ওপর আমার আস্থা রয়েছে।”

January 14: After three long years, Delhi Police’s Special Cell on Monday filed an over 1,200-page charge sheet in connection with the sedition case against 9 JNU students, who had raked up a massive storm in February 2016 by allegedly raising anti-India slogans. The police said they have evidence to proceed against former JNU Students’ Union leaders Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya and seven students from Jammu and Kashmir – Aquib Hussain, Mujeeb Hussain, Muneeb Hussain, Umar Gul, Rayeea Rassol, Bashir Bhat and Basharat.

They have been accused of organising an event on the college campus against the hanging of Parliament-attack mastermind Afzal Guru. Their arrests then had triggered a huge controversy with the opposition slamming the police for “working at the behest of the ruling BJP”. Cops have filed the charge sheet under Section 124a,143,147,149,120b and 323.

Sources say that Kanhaiya didn’t try to stop the ‘event’ from happening and was also aware that Umar Khalid and Anirban had called the outsiders to the campus for attending the event. As per the charge sheet filed, no permission was granted by the JNU administration and it was not informed about the same. “Every member was a part of the unlawful assembly,” the charge sheet read. Quoting eyewitnesses, the police said Kanhaiya Kumar was seen raising anti-national slogans at the event three years ago, adding they have CCTV and mobile phone videos showing him speaking clearly.

On 9th February 2016, a protest was held in JNU against death sentence given to Afzal Guru and Maqbool Bhat during which anti-national slogans were raised. Some of the slogans allegedly raised during the event are: Hum kya chahte Azadi, hume leke rahenge Aazadi, Go India go back”, Sang bazi wali aazadi (freedom for throwing stones), Bharat tere tukde honge inshaallah, Kashmir ki azadi tak jang rahegi, Bharat ki barbadi tak aazadi, Bharat ke mulk ko ek jhatka aur do, Bharat ko ek ragda or do, Hum chin ke lenge azadi, ladke lenge aazadi, Tum kitne Maqbool maroge har ghar se Maqbool niklega.
