Gunotsav: Addl. Chief Secretary as External Evaluator at Cachar

October 11: The 1st phase of the 2nd Round of Gunotsav began in the state of Assam from 8 October. Today was the last day of this phase. In Cachar district, a total of 890 External Evaluators from the three districts of Barak Valley were appointed for this purpose apart from a few top bureaucrats of the state. Additional Chief Secretary of Assam, Jishnu Barua, IAS, was the External Evaluator of Joynagar M.E. School under Salchapra Block, Cachar.

Mr. Barua evaluated the subject knowledge of the students of Class VI, VII and VIII. The skill test in reading, Writing and Numeracy was not held as it was deferred. A notification in this regard was issued by Aruna Rajouri, Mission Director of SSA, Assam on 9 October 2018 as the question paper of the Skill Test was leaked in social media in the Brahmaputra Valley. As such, at Joynagar ME School also evaluation on subject knowledge based on 100 points OMR sheet was held. It needs mention here that this school was awarded ‘A plus’ grade in the 1st Round of Gunotsav.

The Additional Chief Secretary of Assam Jishnu Barua was assisted by Sudarshan Gupta, Assistant Professor of Radhamadhab College Silchar, who is also the Master Trainer of Gunotsav 2018 from Cachar district. Sources revealed that Mr. Barua went around the school, examined minutely each and every apect. Apart from interacting with the students, he also interacted with the School Managing Committee, Mother’s Group and people from the Community.

Officers of SSA Cachar also came on round to Joynagar ME School where the Additional Chief Secretary of Assam was the External Evaluator. It has been learnt that Mr. Barua also had Mid-day Meal sitting along with the students of the school. He seemed to be satisfied with the performance of the school and adviced the students and the teachers how to do much better.

Apart from the Additional Chief Secretary of Assam Jishnu Barua, ADGP L.R. Bishnoi, Secretary of Panchayat & Rural Development Nazrul Islam and Forest Conservator Salman Uddin Choudhury visited Cachar as External Evaluator.
