২১ অক্টোবর : এ বছর অর্থাৎ ২০১৮’র দুর্গোৎসব খুব শান্তিপূর্ণভাবেই কেটেছে। এর জন্য পুরো ক্রেডিট দিতে হচ্ছে সতর্ক প্রশাসন, ২৪ ঘণ্টা প্রহরারত পুলিশ বিভাগ, সদা তৎপর পুরসভা, সজাগ দুর্যোগ মোকাবিলা কমিটি, সচেতন সংবাদ মাধ্যম এবং অবশ্যই জেলার শান্তিপ্রিয় মানুষকে। বিজয়া দশমীর শেষে ওয়ে টু বরাকের সঙ্গে এক একান্ত সাক্ষাৎকারে এ কথা বলেন কাছাড়ের জেলাশাসক ডাঃ এস লক্ষণন।
জেলাশাসক বলেন, এ বছরও পুজোর সময় কিছু অনাকাঙ্ক্ষিত ঘটনা ঘটেছে। কিন্তু যে বিশাল সংখ্যক মানুষ রাস্তায় বেরিয়েছিলেন, সে তুলনায় এ সব একেবারেই সামান্যতম ঘটনা। তিনি বলেন, এই ছোট ছোট ঘটনাগুলো খুব স্বাভাবিক, কিন্তু পুজো জুড়ে স্পর্শকাতর তেমন কোনও কিছু ঘটেনি। এই উপত্যকার সাংস্কৃতিক প্রেক্ষাপট সম্পর্কে বলতে গিয়ে তাঁর মন্তব্য, সাংস্কৃতিক কর্মসূচি আয়োজনের দিক দিয়ে শিলচর অনেক এগিয়ে। মানুষ বিভিন্ন ধরনের কলাকৃষ্টি প্রদর্শন করেছেন। তিনি মনে করেন, বরাক উপত্যকার এই কৃষ্টি সংস্কৃতি বৃহত্তর স্তরে এমনকি গোটা বিশ্বের মানুষের কাছে পৌঁছে যাবে।
ওয়ে টু বরাকের সঙ্গে কথা বলতে গিয়ে কাছাড়ের পুলিশ সুপার রাকেশ রোওশন বলেন, পুজোর দিনগুলোতে জেলার এ প্রান্ত থেকে ও প্রান্ত পর্যন্ত প্রচুর সংখ্যক নিরাপত্তা রক্ষী মোতায়েন করা হয়েছিল। ফলে কোনও বড় ধরনের ঘটনা ঘটেনি। তিনি বলেন, নিয়মিত পুলিশ কর্মীর সঙ্গে বিভিন্ন স্থানে আধা সামরিক বাহিনী মোতায়েন করা হয়। এদের সঙ্গে সদরঘাটের প্রতিমা বিসর্জ্জনঘাটে এনডিআরএফ ও এসডিআরএফ বাহিনীকে কাজে লাগানো হয়েছিল, যার জন্য সবকিছু মসৃণভাবে এগিয়েছে।
এর পাশাপাশি শান্তিশৃঙ্খলার মধ্য দিয়ে দুর্গোৎসব উদযাপনের জন্য তিনি সাধারণ মানুষ, বিভিন্ন পুজো কমিটিকে ধন্যবাদ জানান। তিনি যোগ করেন, বড় ধরনের কোনও ঘটনা না ঘটলেও ছোটখাটো কিছু ঘটনা ঘটেছে। তবে পুরো টিম সজাগ থাকায় তা সহজেই সমাধান করা সম্ভব হয়েছে। জেলাশাসক ও পুলিশ সুপার দু’জনেই উপত্যকার জনগণকে দুর্গোৎসব এবং আসন্ন লক্ষ্মীপূজা ও কালীপূজার শুভেচ্ছা জানিয়েছেন।
October 21: “Durga Puja 2018 was largely peaceful and for this due credit goes to the vigilant administration, 24×7 police monitoring, active performance of Silchar Municipal Board, energetic Disaster Management Cell, conscious media and peace loving people of the district,” said Dr. S. Lakshmanan, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar. In an exclusive interview to way2barak, Dr. Laksmanan said that there were a few number of untoward incident this time during puja but considering the multitude of people on the streets these were very minor incidents. He said,”These small incidents are very natural but nothing serious occurred throughout the puja.”
On being asked about the cultural aspect of the valley, Dr. S. Laksmanan said that “Silchar is very very vibrant with cultural programmes. People perform various kinds of art forms.” He mentioned that the cultural arena of the valley is very vibrant. He expressed hope that the artistic performance of Barak Valley will travel wide, throughout the globe.
Speaking to way2barak, Rakesh Roushan, Superintendent of Police, Cachar said “Sufficient number of security forces was deployed in the length and breadth of the district. As a result any major untoward incident did not occur.” He further said that along with regular police forces, para military forces were also deployed at various places. Mr. Roushan said that his forces along with NDRF and SDRF were also deployed at immersion ghat at Sadarghat for which everything went on smooth.
He also expressed thanks to the public, the puja committees and public at large for celebrating Durga Puja in a peaceful manner. He also said that there were no major untoward incidents this time. There were of course some minor incidents but those were also solved due to the vigilance of the team.
Both the Deputy Commissioner and the Police Super wished all people of the valley on the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja and forthcoming Lakshmi Puja and KaliPuja.
