Goldighi Mall Merchant’s Association criticises the ‘dance of devils’ at Tinsukia
November 2: It was nothing short of a ‘dance of devils’ which occurred at Tinsukia on Thursday night. How can human beings kill their fellow beings in such cold blood? Were these innocent five shot dead only because their mother tongue was Bengali? How many more such deaths will wake up the government from their deep slumber? These were some of the questions raised by Subhajit Gupta (Shanku) while speaking to way2barak on Friday while sharing his feelings on the Tinsukia massacre. He was participating in a candle light protest organised by Silchar Goldighi Mall Merchant’s Welfare Association.
Ramanuj Gupta, President of the Association said that there is total lawlessness in the state. He criticised those who carried on this incident in strict words. He also added that the Goldighi Mall Merchant’s Welfare Association has full support to the 12-hour band called by various organisations on Saturday. Mr. Gupta informed way2barak that all shops and business establishments in Goldighi Mall will remain complete shut during the bandh. Others present there also echoed the voices of the Guptas. Nabin Paul, Secretary of the association also crticised the incident as a barbaric one. Sandip Paul, Treasurer of the Association said that this is a clear indication of targeting the Bengalis and this cannot be happened to occur again.
Anger seems to have gripped the people of the Valley. The ruthless killing of the innocent Bengalis have moved the people to such an extent that several organisations have given the call for Barak bandh on Saturday. Usually the merchants do not support any bandh or strike from their heart as it causes loss to their business.
However, Saturday’s bandh seemed to be something special for even the merchant community of the valley as they also could not digest the fact that innocent Bengalis are made targets of linguistic jingoism. That is probably why, the Goldighi Mall Merchant’s Welfare Association has come out spontaneously in support of the bandh.
