Prize distributed for ‘Plastic Fishing Competition’ in Hailakandi
October 23: A unique ‘Plastic Fishing Competition’ on River Dhaleshwari was organized in Hailakandi on Tuesday by the District Administration of Hailakandi and Hailakandi Municipal Board. After fishing for 2 hours, 320 kg of plastic was ‘fished’ which will be recycled to be used in cement factories. Students, NGOs, SHGs and citizens participated with great interest and enthusiasm in the ‘Plastic Fishing Competition’.
On Wednesday, prizes were distributed to the winners of the first of its kind “plastic fishing competition” in the presence of Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi, Pradip Timung ACS EO, Chairperson of Hailakandi Municipal Board and other officials. Participation certificates were awarded to all participating NGO, SHG, Schools. Prizes were awarded category wise to the following participants:
Under school category : First Prize

They collected a total of 40.97 kg of plastics from the river

They collected a total of 59.59 kg plastic
