G.A.V. Reddy is the new I.G. of Assam Rifles

১ নভেম্বরঃ জিএভি রেড্ডি আসাম রাইফেলসের পূর্বাঞ্চলের আইজি-র দায়িত্ব নিয়েছেন। তিনি উপেন্দ্র দ্বিবেদীর কাছ থেকে দায়িত্বভার বুঝে নিয়েছেন। বরাক উপত্যকা, মিজোরাম ও পশ্চিম মণিপুর তাঁর এই পূর্বাঞ্চলের আওতাভুক্ত। শ্রীকোণা এর সদর দফতর। সেখানেই সম্পন্ন হয়েছে  আনুষ্ঠানিক দায়িত্ব হস্তান্তর পর্ব।

মেজর জেনারেল রেড্ডি ১৯৮৬ সালে জাঠ রেজিমেন্টের নবম ব্যাটেলিয়নে যোগ দিয়ে তাঁর কর্মজীবন শুরু করেন। জন্মু-কাশ্মীর সহ বিভিন্ন জায়গায় এরই মধ্যে সাহসিকতার সঙ্গে কাজ করে নিয়েছেন। সেজন্য ২০০৪ সালে তাঁকে শৌর্যচক্রে সম্মানিত করা হয়। এই বছরের জানুয়ারিতে প্রদান করা হয় বিশিষ্ট সেবাপদক।

November 1: G.A.V. Reddy has become the new I.G. of the Assam Rifles (Eastern Zone). He has taken over the charge from Upendra Dwivedi. The Eastern Zone which will be taken care of by Reddy includes Barak Valley, Mizoram and West Manipur. It’s headquarters is in Srikona. The formal event of charge hand over took place at Srikona office.

Major General Reddy started his career in the year 1986 when he joined the 9th Battalion of the Jat Regiment. He has in the meantime, served with immense courage in many parts of the country including Jammu and Kashmir. He was honoured with Souryachakra in the year 2004. This year Major General Reddy has been honoured with a special service medal.
