Friends of the Earth & AP Dutta Press Fighters wins on Thursday in BUKSS cricket fest

February 7: The BUKSS organised Jookto Cricket Fest has reached its climax. On Thursday, Friends of the Earth & AP Dutta Press Fighters made it to the next level of this media cricket fest in two exciting matches. In the first match, AP Dutta Press Fighters defeated Trinayani Khobar Heroes, whereas the second match witnessed victory of Friends of the Earth against SML Karimganj Press Club.

Winning the toss, Sanjib Singh, the skipper of AP Dutta Press Fighters went for fielding. In 15 overs, Trinayani Khobar Heroes scored 104 runs at the loss of 5 wickets. The highest run scorer of Trinayani was Subrata Das. He scored 26 runs of 15 balls. However, the start for AP Dutta Press Fighters was quite scary as Trinayani’s captain Abhijit took 3 wickets in his very 1st over.

However, Ashok Rajkumar and Anirban Roy Choudhury brought back the momentum by their 51 runs partnership. Anirban played a brilliant knock of 52 runs from 34 balls. His 52 runs comprised of 5 boundaries and 1 six. Runs flowed in from the bat of Pintu Suklabaidya too who made 25 runs of just 11 balls. Finally, AP Dutta Press Fighters reached their target after playing 13.2 overs at the loss of 7 wickets. Abhijit took 4 wickets in this match. Both the awards of Man of the Match & Moment of the Match were bagged by Anirban Roy Choudhury. On the other hand, the award of Super Six and Super Senior went to Pintu & Chinmoy respectively.

The second match of the day was also an exciting one, which was played between Friends of the Earth News Rockers and SML Karimganj Press Club. SML won the toss and elected to field first. However, Aniruddha Laskar failed on Thursday’s match to keep upto the expectation of his team and got out on 11. Ruhul Amin scored 30 and turned events in favour of News Rockers. Debasish Shome also scored a brilliant knock of 27 runs. 16 runs were scored by Manoj Kumar Roy. Friends of the Earth News Rockers scored a total of 119 runs at the loss of 6 wickets.

Replying to this challenge, SML Karimganj Press Club made a good start. Jasim Uddin scored 39, Rajan Das 24 and Nabendu Malakar’s 19 gave moments of tension to the opponents. However, the News Rockers had their last smile. At the end of stipulated 15 overs, SML Karimganj coukd manage 111 runs at te loss of 3 wickets. The man of the match, Super Senior, Super Six & man of the Moment awards were secured by Ruhul Amin, Nantu Ghosh, Nabendu Malakar and Jasim uddin respectively.

On Friday, the 1st match will be played between AP Dutta Press Fighters and Ganshakti Media Panthers, whereas the 2nd match will witness fight between Budu’s Hailakandi and SML Karimganj Press Club.
