Former MP Sushmita Dev visits Meherpur Durgabari, meets with family of deceased
November 6: Former MP Sushmita Dev visited Meherpur Durgapally and interacted with the familiy members of Sonali Das and Pompy Dey who lost their lives in a tragic accident on 30 October. She listened to the tragic incident in which two young girls lost their lives. The family members of the deceased once again narrated the same incident of how they were deprived of performing rituals when the dead bodies arrived in their house. Some of them even alleged that that those injured were discharged by Silchar Medical College & Hospital on the pretext that there were shortage of seats.
Later on interacting with the media, Sushmita Dev said, “I think that politics should not be played on the death of any person. But I learnt from the family members of the deceased that how hurriedly the dead bodies were taken away to the crematorium. Well, I think that this is not proper. I want to tell the SP that what is the mystery behind a truck moving in the town at such a speed and crushing people under its wheels? Not only me, but the entire people of Cachar wants to know what was in the truck? Who is behind all these? There should be a proper investigation of the entire matter. I feel that there should be CID investigation in this case.”
Susmita Dev further criticised MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy and said, “MP Silchar has come to meet the family of the deceased with an ex-gratia of Rs.2 lakh. But he has commented that it is a normal incident of accident. This is not befitting of a MP because those who have lost a daughter, for them it is not a simple incident. Money is not a very important matter but to tell the parents of the deceased that it is a normal incident is very unfortunate.”
