Fire breaks out at Chandranathpur, 14 shops gutted, lady & her grandchild seriously injured

২৬ সেপ্টেম্বরঃ চন্দ্রনাথপুর স্টেশন সংলগ্ন এলাকায় ভস্মীভূত হয়ে গেল ১৪টি দোকান। সিলিন্ডার ফেটে ভয়াবহ আগুন লাগে বৃহস্পতিবার রাত ৮টা নাগাদ। ঝর্ণা ধর নামে এক মহিলার চায়ের দোকানেই সিলিন্ডারটির বিস্ফোরণ ঘটে। তাতে ঝর্ণা ধর ও তার নাতি জিত গুরুতর জখম হয়। শিলচর মেডিক্যাল কলেজ হাসপাতালে তাদের চিকিতসা চলছে।

প্রায় দুই ঘণ্টা লড়াইর পর আগুন আয়ত্তে আসে। প্রথমে স্থানীয়  নাগরিকরা আগুন নেভানোর প্রাণপণ চেষ্টা করেন। কিন্তু সিলিন্ডার বিস্ফোরণের আগুন বলে মুহূর্তে দাউদাউ করে জ্বলে ওঠে। পরে পুলিশ ও দমকল বাহিনী গিয়ে পৌঁছায়। শেষে আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে আসে। ততক্ষণে ১৪ দোকান পুড়ে ছাই হয়ে যায়। এর মধ্যে রয়েছে কাপড়চোপড়, মোবাইল, স্টেশনারি সামগ্রী ও মুদি দোকান।

পুজোর মুখে এভাবে জ্বলেপুড়ে যাওয়ায় ব্যবসায়ীরা মুষড়ে পড়েছেন। বিধায়ক কিশোর নাথ ঘটনাস্থলে ছুটে গিয়ে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত ব্যবসায়ীদের সঙ্গে কথা বলেন। তাদের সাহায্য-সহযোগিতার আশ্বাস দেন।

September 26: A massive fire broke out on Thursday at around 8 PM in which 14 shops were gutted in the fire. Eyewitnesses revealed that the fire broke out from a gas cylinder in a tea stall run by one Jharna Das. She along with her grandchild Jeet were severely burnt and were admitted at Silchar Medical College and Hospital in a serious condition.

Within no time, the flames engulfed the adjacent shops and burnt them into ashes. A cloth store, grocery shop, Mobile store, electronics shop along with a total of 14 shops were burnt. Local people rushed to the spot and tried to douse the flames but in vain. Police forces from Borkhola rushed to the spot along with fire brigades. It took around 2 hours time for the fire engines to bring the fire under control.

MLA Borkhola Kishore Nath got the information and also rushed to the spot. The shops which were burnt are very near to Chandranathpur Railway Station. As per preliminary estimates, property worth Rs.50 lakh were burnt.
