Exam fees hike: Students give 2 days’ ultimatum to DC
September 29: Students from different colleges of Silchar gave an ultimatum to the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar that if the TDC exam fees is not lowered by the Assam University within 2 days, then they would launch a vigorous movement. The end semester examination fees for Three Years Degree Course (TDC) at college level have been enhanced by Assam University. This was resented by All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO). The Cachar District Committee of AIDSO protested this move of the university in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner on Saturday.
As a follow up action to the demonstration staged by the students under the banner of AIDSO, a delegation of the students met the Deputy Commissioner again on Friday. They reiterated their demand that if the university authority fails to take any positive action, then they will be bound to resort to agitation. They said that, if the TDC exam fees structure is not decreased then they will involve the students of all the colleges and launch a vigorous movement. In this regard, they have given a 2 day ultimatum to the Deputy Commissioner.
