Dream Celebration organises talk session on drugs abuse

June 27: Addiction is a disease that affect a person’s brain and behavior. When one is addicted to drugs, he/she just can’t resist the urge to use them, no matter how much harm the drugs may cause. The drug menace has been on the rise in Barak Valley. Social awareness is a must to fight drug menace. The police cannot alone control it unless the society join hands in this battle.

It is in this context that ‘Dream Celebration’ is already working on anti-Drugs and now again it has organised a “Talk Session” in collaboration with Cachar Police. On 26 June, as part of International Day Against Drug Abuse And Illicit Trafficking, Dream Celebration organised their renewed fight against drugs abuse. For better cure, better knowledge is a must. With this aim in view, the Talk Session was organised by Dream Celebration.

The Phase 1 of the project of Dream Celebration was Counseling of Drug Addicts in association with Dr Suman Baidya, Consultant Neuropsychiatrist , Medical Officer OST Centre, Dept of Psychiatry, Silchar Medical College.

Phase 2 witnessed the Talk Session on anti-drugs entitled, “Life is Beautiful, Say No To Drugs.” The panelists in this Talk Session were: Bhargav Goswami, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Cachar, Advocate Sumita Som, Vice President Dist Bar Association and Association Secretary Inner Wheel of India and Dr. Suman Baidya, Consultant Neuropsychiatrist , Medical Officer OST Centre, Dept of Psychiatry, Silchar Medical College. The Moderator of the talk show was Nikita Banik, Founder President, Dream Celebration.
