Don’t believe in rumours, all accident victims are stable now

October 31: A speeding truck ran over several people in a Kali Puja immersion procession in Meherpur area of Silchar. Two young girls were crushed to death and 19 others were injured on Wednesday night. All are at present admitted at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH).

Initially, the condition of two of them were reported to be serious. However, as per latest report, all of them were out of danger. Out of them, one patient had femur fracture but she is also stable now. A femoral fracture is a bone fracture that involves the femur. They are typically sustained in high-impact trauma, such as car crashes, due to the large amount of force needed to break the bone. Most femoral shaft fractures take 3 to 6 months to completely heal.

The dead bodies of the 2 deceased were cremated on Thursday in presence of police forces. There were some sporadic incidence of violence by some miscreants on Thursday, who damaged a bus and a car at Hospital Road and Rangirkhari. However, police managed to nab the miscreants involved in vandalism. In the late afternoon, Laya Madduri in the capacity of District Magistrate, Cachar imposed Section 144 in the district.

However, since yesterday night rumours were spread by word of mouth and social media platforms. As per reports, all the victims of of the accident are now stable. There is no news of any further death. The information about imposition of curfew is also baseless. There is also no information of any strike on Friday. As per Cachar Police, the situation is totally under control. The Deputy Commissioner has appealed to all not to spread any rumour.

Please don’t spread any rumour and don’t believe in any rumour…..

  1. The miscreants who vandalised vehicles and shops of general public must be brought to book .No political interference to free these brutes should be entertained by the law enforcing agency.
