নতুন উদ্যোগ কাছাড়ে, বালি-শিল্পের মাধ্যমে ভোটার সচেতনতা
New initiative of SVEEP, Sand Art on bank of river Barak in Cachar

ওয়েটুবরাক, ২১ মার্চ: ভোটার সচেতনতায় বালি-শিল্প তৈরি করে নতুন নজির গড়ল কাছাড় জেলা প্রশাসন। বরাক নদীর চরে দুধপাতিলে আজ রবিবার সকাল পাঁচটা থেকে বালির উপর শিল্পকর্ম তৈরির কাজ করেন শিল্পীরা। এদিন বালুতে ছয়টি শিল্পকর্ম বানান তাঁরা।

জেলাশাসক কীর্তি জল্লি বলেন, কাছাড় জেলায় সবকিছুই উদযাপন করা হয়। তুলে ধরা হয় জেলার কৃষ্টি-সংস্কৃতি। ভোটার সচেতনতার বেলাতেও এর ব্যতিক্রম হচ্ছে না। গত রবিবার রাস্তায় আলপনা তৈরি করা হয়েছে। এ দিন হল  বালুতে শিল্পকর্ম৷ জেলাশাসক এদিন শিল্পীদের বিশেষ ভাবে ধন্যবাদ জানান।

এসভিইইপি সেল, সমাজ কল্যাণের যৌথ উদ্যোগে বালুর ওপর ছবি আঁকার সহযোগিতায় ছিল সুরমিতা আর্ট গ্যালারি, গ্রুপ অব কালার্স, নেহরু যুব কেন্দ্র, মহিলা শক্তি কেন্দ্র সহ আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের চারুকলা বিভাগের ছাত্ররা। অংশ নেন জেলাশাসক জল্লিও৷

এদিন বালু ও রং দিয়ে শিল্পীরা ভোটার সচেতনতার ওপর ৩টি ও ‘বেটি বাঁচাও’ থিমের ওপর ১টি ছবি বানান। এছাড়াও এসডিআরএফ-এর উপর একটি ছবি বানানো হয়। ‘গর্ব কাছাড়’ থিমের ওপর তৈরি করা হয় একটা বালু ভাস্কর্য। শিল্পীদের চারটি দল এই কাজগুলো করেন। প্রায় ৩০ জন শিল্পী এতে অংশ নেন। বালু-শিল্প দেখতে এদিন বিভিন্ন সরকারি আধিকারিকরাও উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

March 21: The District Administration, Cachar took up another innovative programme to encourage the voters ahead of Assembly elections and this time by creating sand art along the bank of river Barak at Dudhpatil Part V opposite to Annapurna Ferry Ghat on Sunday. Sand art festival is a first of its kind in history of Cachar. Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, Keerthi Jalli inaugurated the event in the presence of Assistant Commissioner Cachar, Vibhor Agarwal and Circle Officer attached to Sonai Bikash Chetri, ALRS who is also the Nodal Officer of SVEEP campaign.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Jalli said, “Under the umbrella programme of Garv Cachar for voter awareness, we are celebrating all the elements that make Cachar special to remind our voters that voting as a right is not just our pride but our legacy too. We celebrated Earth of Cachar through Rangoli. We are celebrating environment today through Sand Art festival.”

She said, “Interestingly, tomorrow is also World Water Day with the theme ‘valuing water’ which we want to promote as well. Keeping in line with the Nari Shakti theme, we wanted Mishti to take the centre stage saying please vote so that I can have a bright future – a future where girls are educated, employed and empowered.”
Lauding SVEEP team, Jalli said, “They did a fantastic job. Huge number of youths came to the spot. All the artists who have come forward proved that art conquers all.

As part of the programme, artists started making work of sand art from 5 AM on the banks of the river Barak. The artists painted pictures on the bank of river which was a joint venture of SVEEP Cell and Department of Social Welfare in collaboration with Surmita Art Gallery, Group of Colors, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Mahila Shakti Kendra and students of Fine Arts Department of Assam University.

On this day, the artists made various pictures on voter awareness and on the theme of Nari Shakti with sand and paint. The Deputy Commissioner also took part in it. A picture was also made on the SDRF. A sand sculpture was also carved on the theme ‘Garv Cachar’. Four groups of artists comprising 30 in all did these works. Government officials were also present to watch the sand art. It has generated a lot of interest among the locals. The venue chosen also covers polling stations which has low voter’s turnout.
