District Committee of Assam Academy of Mathematics formed at G.C. College, Silchar
আসাম গণিত শিক্ষায়তনের সভায় কাছাড় জেলা কমিটি গঠিত

৯ সেপ্টেম্বর : আসাম গণিত শিক্ষায়তনের জন্ম ১৯৮৬ সালে। যার একমাত্র উদ্দেশ্য ছাত্রছাত্রীদের মধ্যে এমনকি সর্বস্তরের মানুষের মধ্যে গণিতের প্রচার ও প্রসার। এই উদ্দেশ্যকে সামনে রেখে শিলচরে জেলাভিত্তিক শাখা গড়ে তোলার প্রচেষ্টাকে বাস্তবায়ন করতে ৮ সেপ্টেম্বর, রবিবার সকাল ১১টায় শিলচরের গুরুচরণ কলেজের কনফারেন্স হলে এক সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। এতে উপস্থিত ছিলেন এ অঞ্চলের বিশিষ্ট গণিতজ্ঞ, শিক্ষাবিদ ও গণিত প্রেমী জনগণ। গুরুচরণ কলেজের গণিত বিভাগের প্রধান অধ্যাপক ডাঃ বিপ্লব চৌধুরীর পৌরোহিত্যে অনুষ্ঠিত সভার শুরুতে অধ্যাপক ড. দেবাশিস শর্মা সভার উদ্দেশ্য বিস্তৃতভাবে ব্যাখ্যা করেন। পরবর্তীতে বিভিন্ন বক্তা প্রাসঙ্গিক বক্তব্য রাখেন। পরিশেষে সভায় আসাম গণিত শিক্ষায়তনের এক জেলাভিত্তিক কমিটি সর্বসম্মতিক্রমে গঠন করা হয়। এর উপদেষ্টা মন্ডলীতে রয়েছেন কলকাতা যাদবপুর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অধ্যাপক কল্লোল পাল, আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অধ্যাপক ড. করবী দত্ত চৌধুরী এবং গুরুচরণ কলেজের অধ্যক্ষ ড. বিভাস দেব।

সভাপতি পদে রয়েছেন অধ্যাপক ড. বিপ্লব চৌধুরী, উপ-সভানেত্রী অধ্যাপক জয়ী নাথ, সাধারণ সম্পাদক নির্বাচিত হয়েছেন ড. দেবাশিস শর্মা, যুগ্ম সম্পাদক পদে দায়িত্ব পেয়েছেন দুই শিক্ষক বাপ্পা রায় ও বিশ্বজিৎ চক্রবর্তী এবং কোষাধ্যক্ষ পদে রয়েছেন সুদীপ চন্দ্র পাল।

এছাড়াও মুখ্য কার্যনির্বাহী কমিটিতে রয়েছেন সাংস্কৃতিক কর্মী তথা সংগঠক সুব্রত রায়, অবসরপ্রাপ্ত চিকিৎসক ডাঃ অরুণ কুমার ভট্টাচার্য, শিক্ষকদের মধ্যে হৃদিরঞ্জন দেব, প্রণয় পাল, সোমাভ চক্রবর্তী, মনোজিৎ পাল, বিপ্লব সিংহ এবং শিলচর এনআইটিতে গণিত বিষয়ে গবেষণারত বিপ্লব ধর, সংগীতা সাহা, দীপঙ্কর সাহা, রাহুল পাল প্রমুখ। মুলত ২০ জন বিশিষ্ট নবীন প্রবীণ অভিজ্ঞতা সম্পন্ন গণিতপ্রেমী তথা গণিত অনুরাগীদের দৃঢ় সংকল্পে সেদিন আসাম গণিত শিক্ষায়তনের জেলা ভিত্তিক কমিটি গঠন করা হয়।

প্রসঙ্গত, সেদিনের সভায় ২০১৮ সালে আসাম গণিত শিক্ষায়তনের দ্বারা আয়োজিত গণিত অলিম্পিয়াডে সফলতার সঙ্গে উত্তীর্ণ এতদঞ্চলের তিনজন ছাত্রছাত্রীদের হাতে প্রশংসা পত্র তুলে দেওয়া হয় এবং আগামী দিনে এই উপত্যকা থেকে যাতে বেশি সংখ্যায় প্রতিভাবান গণিতপ্রেমী ছাত্রছাত্রী প্রক্রিয়া ক্রমে অনুসন্ধান করা হয়, সেই লক্ষ্যে ৯ জন বিশিষ্টদের নিয়ে ট্যালেন্ট সার্চ নামক এক কমিটি গঠন করা হয় ।

September 9: A meeting of the Silchar Branch of Assam Academy of Mathematics was held in the conference hall of G.C. College, Silchar on Sunday. The primary objective of the Academy is to disseminate the know how of Mathematics in the society in general and among the students in particular. The meeting of the Academy at G.C. College was attended by scholars, educationists, eminent Mathematicians of the valley and persons interested in this subject.

The meeting was presided over by Dr. Bilpob Choudhury, Head of the Department of Mathematics, G.C. College, Silchar. Dr. Debashish Sharma of the same department spoke on the objective of the meeting. Many experts in the field of Mathematics also spoke on the various aspect of the subject and stated its importance in the lives of all. It was aptly said that a basic knowledge of Mathematics is a prerequisite for all and sundry.

A district based committee of the Assam Academy of Mathematics was also constituted with an Advisory Board, which comprised of eminent educationists like Prof. Kallol Paul of Jadavpur University, Dr. Karabi Dutta Choudhury of Assam University and Dr. Bibhash Deb-Principal of G.C. College. The District Committee comprised of Dr. Biplob Choudhury as the President of the District Committee, Dr. Joyee Nath as its Vice President, Dr. Debashish Sharma became the General Secretary, Bappa Roy & Biswajit Chakraborty as Joint Secretaries and Sudip Paul became the Treasurer.

Further an executive committee was also formed, which included Subrata Roy, Dr. Arun Kumar Bhattacharjee, Dr. Hridhi Ranjan Deb, Pronoy Paul, Somabho Chakraborty, Monojit Paul, Biplob Singh, Biplob Dhar, Sangeeta Saha, Dipankar Saha and Rahul Paul. The District Committee of Assam Academy of Mathematics was formed with 20 eminent persons comprising of both experienced and young aspirants.

On that day, awards were also given to 3 talented students of the district who successfully qualified the Mathematics Olympiad organised by Assam Academy of Mathematics in 2018. Apart from this,a 9-member Talent Search Committee was also formed to help find more students interested in Mathematics and to train them so that more students from the district could qualify the Mathematics Olympiad in the coming year.
