Deptt of Performing Arts to celebrate Women’s Day in a unique manner
March 4: A balanced world is a better world. How can one help forge a more gender-balanced world?
Celebrate women’s achievement. Raise awareness against bias. Take action for equality. Get everything you need to run a successful International Women’s Day. From grassroots activism to worldwide action, we are entering an exciting period of history where the world expects balance. We notice its absence and celebrate its presence. The International Women’s Day 2019 campaign theme is #BalanceforBetter.
Keeping this aspect in mind, the Department of Performing Arts, Assam University, Silchar (AUS) will be celebrating International Women’s Day 2019 by organising a one day national workshop on Listening and Appreciation of Indian Classical Music by women artists. The workshop aims to develop listening skills of the participants. The said National Workshop will be held on 8 March at the Department of Performing Arts, AUS. Speaking to way2barak, Murali Basa, Assistant Professor Drama, Deptt of Performing Arts & the convenor of the workshop said, “Since the very inception of the department of Performing Arts, we are committed to organising women-oriented programmes to commemorate the International Women’s Day.”
The workshop features lectures of different invited speakers and at least 4 hours of listening to Indian Classical Music which will achieve the following objectives :
- Sparks the creativity: Listening to the classical music trigs the mind to work in a creative environment.
- Happy life: The listening skills of music enhances dopamine secretion which activates the brain’s reward and pleasure centre.
- Boost Memory: Classical music increases brain wave activity that’s linked directly to memory
- Fight Depression: The study has proven that classical music helps ease symptoms of depression and melancholy.
- Remembering the woman Legends: The contribution of the legends who have done a creative contribution to music should be remembered through the lectures and appreciate their contribution.
- More Productive : This workshop yields to create an environment for the participants to be more productive at their work place.
