২ নভেম্বরঃ মৃতদেহ হাইজ্যাক! পম্পী-প্রিয়ার চিতা জ্বলে ওঠার আগেই অভিযোগটা উঠেছিল। এমনকী শ্মশানমুখে অবরোধও শুরু হয়েছিল। সেই মুহূর্তে দুই তরুণীর পিতা সাংসদ, ডেপুটি স্পিকারের কথা মেনে নিলেও ক্ষোভ যে প্রশমন হয়নি, শনিবার দুর্গাপল্লীতে তা স্পষ্ট ধরা পড়ে।

প্রিয়া দাস ওরফে সোনালির ঠাকুরমা স্নেহলতা দাস, এ কী রকম কথা! মৃত মেয়েটাকে শাস্ত্রমতে চিরবিদায় দেওয়া গেল না। বিধান রয়েছে, স্নান করিয়ে শ্মশানে নিয়ে যেতে হয়। কিন্তু এক আশ্চর্য কারণে মেয়ে দুটিকে একবারের জন্য কাউকে দেখার সুযোগ দেওয়া হয়নি।

দুই মা-ই কাতর আর্জি জানাচ্ছিলেন, শেষবারের মত মেয়ের মুখটা দেখতে দাও। কিন্তু ডেপুটি  স্পিকার আমিনুল হক লস্কর ও সাংসদ ডা. রাজদীপ রায় কিছুতেই রাজি হননি। তাদের নির্দেশে অনেকে এ নিয়ে হম্বিতম্বি করছিলেন।

অ্যাম্বুলেন্স থেকে নামিয়ে তাদের শববাহী শকটে শ্মশানঘাটে নিয়ে যাওয়া হবে। কিন্তু রাজনৈতিক নেতাদের বহিনী অ্যাম্বুলেন্সে করেই  তাদের শ্মাশানে নিয়ে যায়। মৃতদের পরিজন ও প্রতিবেশীরা প্রচণ্ড রাগ, ক্ষোভ, অভিমান প্রকাশ করেন।

November 2: Dead body hijacked! This allegation was raised even before the cremation of the dead bodies of Pompy and Priya. Even attempts were made to block the way near Silchar crematorium. Though the parents of the 2 deceased agreed to the proposal of the Deputy Speaker and Member of Parliament (MP) at that moment, but the grievance did not faint away. This became very clear on Saturday at Meherpur Durgapally.

Snehalata Das, the grandmother of Priya Das alias Sonali expressed anguish at the events that unfolded after her death. She curiously asked, “What kind of matter is this? We could not even perform the last rites of the deceased as per Hindu rituals. Our Hindu sastras specify that before cremation, the dead body needs to be given a shower. But for some strange reasons, the 2 deceased girls were not allowed to be seen even for a second. The dead bodies were wrapped in polythene and they did not allow us to see their face.”

The mothers of both the girls made fervent appeal to allow them to see the face of their daughters for the last time, but they cries were not honoured. Deputy Speaker Aminul Haque and MP Rajdeep Roy were not at all willing to allow them to see their daughters or observe the rituals. Due to the direction of these politicians, many others who came there also started showing attitude.

It was also alleged by Shanku Dey, the brother of the deceased Pompy Dey that the political leaders present there told them that the dead bodies will be brought by an ambulance and during the final journey to the crematorium, the bodies will be placed in the special mortuary van. But due to the direction of the two political leaders, their accomplices took the bodies in the ambulance to the crematorium against their wishes.

The relatives and the neighbours of the deceased expressed great resentment at the events and said, “Why was such a hurry made by the politicians in performing the last rites?” The grandmother of Sonali said, “I will never get my child again but I seek proper investigation into this matter. I want justice.”
