DC & SP of Hailakandi join merchants in a peace rally, assures peace & harmony
May 18: A meeting was convened on Saturday morning by Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi along with all the merchant associations from various bazaars and various communities of the town. Superintendent of Police Mohneesh Mishra was also present in the said meeting.
In the meeting, it was was unanimously decided to take out a ‘Shantiyatra’ (Peace Rally) to assure the people of the district that both the two religious communities are united to defeat any attempt at destabilising peace. Without wasting any time, Keerthi Jalli organised a rally which was taken out from the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Hailakandi.
The peace rally went through the main market areas of the town. An appeal was made by the merchants belonging to both the Hindu & Muslim Communities to the people at large to have no fear in the minds and come out of their houses for shopping. Speaking during the rally, one of the merchants said, “Please don’t get scared. All shops and business establishments will remain open till 9 to 10 PM. We do promise that we shall all work together for the development of the district through entrepreneurship and enterprise.”
Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli requested all to spread the message that the town is stable and business can resume fully for ensuring progress of the district. It needs mention here that in a proactive move, the Hailakandi District Administration took out a peace rally in the town on last Thursday also accompanied by a large number of people belonging to the political clan and civil society. The prime objective of the peace rally was to convey a message to the people for maintaining tranquility and communal harmony in the district.
