DC Hailakandi undertakes ‘Governance at your doorstep’ programme at Dholcherra

February 10: It was Swami Vivekananda who said, “If the mountain does not come to the Prophet, the Prophet should go to the mountain.” Keeping to this adage, Hailakandi District Administration took in hand an unique programme.

It is often seen that many local issues don’t come to the fore. It costs money to go from remote villages to district headquarters to get your issues resolved. Hence, it was felt by the district administration of Hailakandi that government machinery can go to these villages to get a first hand knowledge of local issues and concerns.

Under the pilot program of Project ‘Jonogoner Dware Sushason’ (Governance at your doorstep), Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner, Hailakandi along with heads of departments of Agriculture, PHE, Electricity, Health, Lead District Manager, Veterinary, Food and Civil Supply, Rural Development, ASRLM, went to Dholcherra to interact with the public and discuss their needs and chalk out programs for planning in the upcoming financial year.

Various ongoing schemes like PM Kishan, KCC, Jan Dhan etc were discussed for awareness of the public. Agricultural inputs like seeds, paddy and repairs were also distributed. The program was attended by Parikshit Phukan, Megha Das, Ahmed, Manna Ranjan Das among others.
