DC Cachar holds meeting related to payment of bonus to tea garden workers

August 30: A meeting was held relating to payment of bonus by the Tea Estates of Cachar district in connection with Durga Puja festival ,2019 in the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner’s office. The meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri was attended by representatives of tea workers association and Managers of tea Gardens of the District.

Addressing the members present there, Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri said that the tea garden management should declare the rate of bonus before 5 September, 2019 and disbursement of the same should be completed before 20 September, 2019 as stipulated in the government’s instruction.

She also instructed Superintendent of Excise, Sunil Sinha to carry out regular raids in garden areas against illicit liquior and arrange awareness campaigns in tea garden areas.
Secretary TAI (Cachar district) said that bonus will be paid to the workers as per bonus act and also ex-gratia will be paid through mutual agreement between workers and Garden management.

Deputy commissioner Laya Madduri advised the Garden management to take the help of police at the time of distribution of bonus. ADC J.R Lalsim, Assistant Labour Commissioner Rupali Pegu were among others present in the meeting.
